Probably. By having the mother doing the narration this will most likely be a feminist sjw version where the patriarchy will kneel at the wisdom of the matriarchy. It is already diverse and inclusive with the gender & race swap of Major West (instead of Don she might be 'Donna'?). I'll watch it just because I am a big fan of the original, but my expectations are already very low.

So you're saying that this modern day update to a shitty 1960's television show would be destined to be a modern day classic had they only kept the meaningless racial composition to the same characters in the original shitty outdated show?

 

The nostalgia factor is important. The Star Trek reboot didn't turn Kirk into a female, Spock into an African American nor McCoy into a gay Hispanic.

And as silly as the show turned in the last two seasons, it ran longer than Star Trek original series.

 

Why are you comparing "Lost In Space" to "Star Trek", which already had a pretty diverse cast for it's time?

Either it sucks, it fails economically, does both, or it doesn't. Doesn't matter the racial makeup of something, or if the update stayed true to the racial characteristics of whatever source material people want to fall back on.

Did you see when Netflix remade the Japanese Anime "Death Note" into a live action movie? That thing didn't suck because they completely whitewashed and Americanized the whole cast. It sucked because it was a piece of shit with subpar writing, directing, editing and acting.

 

I refused to watch "Death Note" based on the white-washing alone. Then I heard it is terrible too on top of that.

Star Wars is not a good example as The Last Jedi has been trashed mercilessly by fans because of all its PC bullshit. Episode 9 will suffer greatly as many fans will boycott it based on the bad taste left by Episode 8.

 

"Death Note" might be worth a watch, just to laugh at how horrible it is.

"Star Wars" has made money hand over fist, despite any internet chatter it may have gotten in backlash, and it will continue to do so. I'm saying this as somebody that doesn't care a spit whether it does well or not.

Only "Star Wars" movie that even slightly piqued my interest since "Empire" was "Rogue One", and I think they fucked it up in post by inserting all the daddy issue nonsense and lightening up the mood it was originally meant to portray. Doesn't matter what I think though, cause that one did just fine to.

Holywood's market is diversifying.
China is the second biggest market, and soon it will be the biggest. Africa is growing as a market as well. Holywood is adapting to the situation. This is not 'PC crap'. This is business.

 

Well just take a look at how poorly "The Last Jedi" did in China that it was removed from theaters on its second week and the reason offered for this decision was that the film was insulting the intelligence of Chinese audiences. Go figure. And unlike 'The Force Awakens' this film featured prominently a Chinese actress. It made no difference to their indifference.

 

The same 'intelligence that puts The Fate Of The Furious, Furious 7, Monster Hunt, Monster Hunt II, Transformers: Age of Extinction into China's alltime top 10 grossing movies.

Chinesers don't like Star Wars.

 

That shows how ahead of the game I am. I boycotted Ep 8 because of the bad taste left by Ep 7.

Yeah, "Fast And The Furious" movies. Another diversity hire franchise making bank hand over foot everywhere. Shitty movies except for a Mystery Science 3000 treatment of them, but really butts up against Panchy's constant cockamamie theories.

 

Except for critics, audiences everywhere plain hated the last Star Wars film. As for the 'Fast & Furious' films doing well in China it is simply because this is an already established cast of characters who were NOT inserted in the films as 'here is your token black, here is your token female, here is your token Asian..." These characters could be any race and will not make a difference within a mindless action film. However SW The Last Jedi was pushing the sjw progressive agenda envelope in such an obvious way it didn't went unnoticed by audiences.
