There was an episode of Lost in Space "The Challenge" that had child-actor Kurt Russell competing against Will Robinson in the battle of the sons. Even as a kid I couldn't believe for a second that fragile looking, mama' boy Bill Mumy /Will Robinson could beat the bigger, more determined, better trained, son of a legendary warrior Kurt Russell character. I never minded the show's silliness, but that one was too hard to believe. Guy Williams/John Robinson besting Russell's dad in an electric swordfight? No problem: he was Zorro! Now I know from where George Lucas got the inspiration for lightsabers! No match for Zorro Guy Williams...
The Robinsons were my favorite tv family. The Flintstones were second and the Cartwrights were third. As a boy in the 60s I had the hots for Penny Robinson (Angela Cartwright), I used to call her 'my girlfriend', but then I found out all boys of my age were having the same fantasy! LOL
Martha Kristen (Judy) in a different outfit publicity photo Please tell me this isn't true!!! After the show was cancelled teenagers Bill Mumy & Angela Cartright. Mumy confessed they dated while doing the series. This was an awesome make-up job on Bill Mumy to look like Dr Smith! In 1979 after the success of Star Wars, Close Encounters, Alien & Star Trek: The Motion Picture there were plans for a "Lost in Space" movie reuniting all the original actors. That project died after disagreements over the screenplay.
