Oh Jesus, get over it already. It was never about the "ending". That was a Red Herring from the beginning. It could never live up to the rest of the show.

No, it was just a television show. Did you expect Oprah to leave a Ford Prius under your couch at the end of the final episode?

Endings of television shows are generally meaningless. Just a way for television viewers to say goodbye to characters they've become accustomed to.

Unlike current tv series where when the ratings drop, the network cancels it without giving us viewers a damn chance to watch a resolution/final episode. Now is 'FUCK YOU VIEWERS' and 'WATCH OUR NEW REPLACEMENT SHOW!'

On the other hand that propaganda passing as educational series called 'Cosmos' getting the axe got what it deserved.

For a show that was built on mystery, it was a con.

X-Files was built on mystery to. Whatever happened at the very end of the run is irrelevant.

X-Files episodes were different than LOST. X-Files episodes could be watched individually. LOST episodes were supposed to be joining together a whole story and that is what it was built on.

Writers said that they knew the ending of the show before the series filmed. That being said, if all characters "meet up in heaven" is the ending they pre-determined (and they did) then they could write as much bullshit as they wanted. Which they did.

It was a brilliant con. I started getting a clue to it during the middle of the 5th season.

My wife stopped watching LOST midway through the third season stating it was obvious they were all dead and the island was purgatory. I thought her theory was ridiculous, but then three seasons later the finale proved her right.

    no it wasnt.

The whole point was that people that had no direction in Life and felt they had no purpose, "Lost". But in reality, nobody is really lost, and there is always a plan. Always a way to find your place in this world.

"I once was lost, but now im found"

These people found a meaning to their lives. Lives in which they thought they were just pointless and meaningless. And many people feel that way, but it's not true. You just need to find your destiny. And that is what the show is about. Finding your destiny. It just so happens that these people's destiny crossed each other. But it's not about "needing them". It's an extremely spiritual show.

That is just philosophical extrapolation. That was NOT what we saw in the finale. They were ALL dead. How to explain the SHARED experiences in that afterlife island? It wasn't heaven. It wasn't hell. What's left? Limbo (no place, just floating in nothingness) or Purgatory, where not so perfect regular souls are purging past sins to finally get access to Heaven (final scene in the church). It was very obvious in the finale. I don't give two hoots what spin doctor excuses the show creators keep repeating 10 years later. That is what they put on the last episode and unless they George Lucas it later it will remain the same.
