Just raped Chop Chop Corley to the body, knocking him down with body shots about 28 times before the TOTALLY inept ref finally called it off! That wouldnt sound so special, BUT Corley did go the distance with Maidana in his last fight. I say PLEASE GOD make Matthyse vs Maidana and stick it on B.A.D! Both could make a case for being jobbed in thier last fights.... actually Matthyse has more than just a case. He was ROBBED vs Judah with no question.

The ref was a total tard! Were you counting the number of KD's? Its probably around 9. Anyway.... Matthyse is a serious player at 140. And I wouldnt discount him at all against Maidana. Chino has more raw power, but Lucas is alot more technically sound, seems to have a better chin, and is a brutal body puncher.
As every knows I'm a life long Judah fan..... but now way in hell Zab won that fight! And if Matthyse actually fought Judah more aggressive as he did tonight, he wouldnt have had to worry about the judges. And I never said Matthyse was gonna take over 140 or anything. You'd HAVE to favor Conman, Bradley, and Alexander over him(possibly Kotelnik also).... but everybody else at 140 Matthyse is capable of beating. He would put a serious hurting on the likes of Ortiz, and Peterson.
A clear 4 Xplosive, from 4 corners of the ring, it was a nice tidy display from Zab, good footwork, ring generalship,..slippery, sneaky, sleazy, he seasoned the useless beetle with an even tendering to the body and head. But now Zab has a split decision on his record, against, quite possibly the worst fighter in the world, and I hate Zab but even that hurts me. Mathysse is also a malicious racist,.. like Hopkins,.. it hurt baaaad to lose to a quick black fighter, so he goes and picks on a poorer version in order to get redemption and his 'rep' back for his 'ghetto' in South America,..is it not an obvious transition?.. he might not be able to fight very well Xplosive, but atleast he accomplished his mission with your sponsorship. :blackcloud:
I agree about the ref, but Corley got up throwing back almost every time he was floored. Kid is a real banger.
Matthysse looked very good last night. Loved his body work and his composure in there. The left hook in particular was deadly. Corley had no defense for it - really for anything Matthysse had to offer, but went down seemingly every time he got his w/ a left hook to the body. My guess is that Zab will never again look his way - and that's if he gets past Mabuza, which I'm not convinced will be the case. Matthysse-Mabuza would be a war. Would like to see Matthysse against another contender sometime soon. No reason to move any further backwards. He's a player right now and should be in the JWW mix
Are we not overrating Matthyse just a wee bit here? Sure Corley gave a spirited effort but what is Corley like 50 fucking years old and beyond worn out. I'm sure Matthyse looked good, but beating up a guy who's shot and not even being able to beat a badly faded loser like Judah has to mean something. It means the Corley fight meant nothing and was probably just a confidence builder after his loss to Judah.
1. A blind man knows he won the Judah fight 2. That was his first fight in the states I believe, and he allowed himself to fight too passively. He certainly "lost" that fight way more than Zab "won" it. 3. Corley gave Maidana a tough fight in his last performance. Matthyse blew Corley out the way Maidana SHOULD have. And lastly... I dont see anybody on here claiming that Matthyse would beat Conman, Bradley, and Alexander.... just that he's a player at 140. Although I will say.... I would bet the farm on him to break down the puta Ortiz. And thats not overrating him.

What I got out of the fight was that he did a lot of things right. He's showing with each fight that he's far more than a crude brawler (as was the case with his brother, though he lacked the chin to match). Sure, Corley was there for the taking, but Matthysse showed a lot of poise throughout the fight and a few more dimensions to his game. That's what I liked about his performance, regardless of who he was facing. What hurt him in the Judah fight wasn't a lack of skill, but a lack of urgency. He took way too long to get going and that's what cost him the fight. If they fought again, I'd pick Matthysse in a heartbeat.

Well that's just about perfect, the only one more overrated than Mathysse is Maidana, I agree with the reality.
