Manny Pacquiao defies convention. His balance is awful, he holds his hands at his sides, throws his power shots off his front foot, his defense is poor, and he even circles into his opponent’s power. In the end, none of it matters. He offsets all of his technical deficiencies with a solid chin, blazing speed, and a iron resolve. This past Saturday, Pacquiao faced off against Juan Manual Marquez to once again prove he is the alpha male.

Nothing turns my stomach more then an article headline that suggests Complete and Utter Dominance in a fight that could have gone either way or at worst very very close ....
At that point , why would anyone care to even read the article even if it does turn out to be decent.

Yeah , lets talk about how Ricky Hatton dominated Collazo ....

or maybe you are just reading too much into the title?

Well since the title is what kicks off the article , maybe he should double check to be sure that the title itself is not a retarded statement ....

I don't see anything wrong with the title. Your opinion has no bearing in fact, Manny won. End of story. I wish he didn't fucking win, but he did. So Marquez was burned.

Hey , if you want to see it that way , go ahead. In my opinion bullshit like that is part of a big problem ...
"Manny's Fire Burns Marquez" - sounds like Manny beat the ever living shit out of him for 3 rounds and then stopped him via KO in the 4th ....

It does? It sounds like a typical heading, for an article....seeming to allude to a possible rejuvination of a mans spirit. I don't get any kind of fight image from it.

Well, the author believes there was no doubt Pacquiao won, hence the article. As Joony says, I don't watch boxing so what do I know hahahahahah

I thought Pacquiao won clearly, and have spent the day in class around people who think the same. I'm not sure how this Marquez love originated as I've said in other threads. Manny did the better work, landed many of the better punches, hurt/stunned Marquez more often, and in close rounds for the most part his quick lefts were the highlights.

Manny looked as lost and frustrated against Marquez as he did 4 years ago. This time it was the new improved manny against the old marquez. the result was the same.

Once marquez figured him out he was timing him all night. So much for those wicked skills that Manny had picked up all those years. he ended up loading up for that left all night.

Hell even Manny though he lost. his reaction alone tells the story. He looked surprised to get the win when it was anounced.

It was a close fight and very competitive. But to claim Manny won it clearly is really being biased.

false. Nobody who thinks marquez won clearly has any idea how to score a fight.

A close fight, I can buy, 6-6, 7-5 Manny, even 8-4 Manny. But there is no way JMM won. None.

Its not even worth debating, some people are just stupid when it comes to scoring.

    No way that Marquez won?

    Are you kidding me?

Close fight for sure.....anyone could have been given the nod. But "No way Marquez won" is a downright ignorant statement.

look, dozens of people later, I haven't found a single person who thinks Marquez won in real life. Maybe the Marquez family has sent all of you packages with gold and silver, but nobody could justify scoring it for him, it just isn't what happened.

You could try to make it 7-5 Marquez if you tried. But it was a fight with a clear winner, Pacquiao

in real life? did you take a break from lala land?

dude alot of peoplel from the press who covered the fight gave it to JMM, alot of boxing forums full of boxing fans who saw the fight are discussing the winner right now. because it is controversial. It was that close.

I had Marquez winning but it don't bother me that Manny got the decision. I won't cry robbery. But you make it sound like Marquez got his as whipped and was never in the fight.

somehow I dont' think your believe that. I hope you don't believe that.

In the effort of explaining how this series went let me use abstract thinking.

Fighter A was cut in both fights, bruised badly in both fights, was hurt many more times, hit the canvas four times, and Fighter B never was dropped, never on the verge of being stopped, etc.

Manny won, clearly. Just because it was another 7-5 fight for him doesn't make the winner any less clear
