Yes..and let me elaborate. Curry was a homosexual! :: Seriously though...Curry didn't have the heart or the durability to hang with Pacquiao for 12 rounds. Curry had the skills..but you need more than skills to hang with Pac at 147lbs.
Shit as much as I wanna say that Sly's wrong... he's really not. Manny's heart and toughness could in fact determine this fight. Plus Cdogg, lets not pretend that Manny's speed and angles wouldnt be a big problem for Curry. And Curry WAS vunerable to straight punches up the middle, and Manny's too fast and accurate NOT to land on him. But then again... so is Manny, and Curry had far more skill, quickness, and POWER then Cotto and Phony. Still, its not easy to predict this matchup until Fairyweather fights Manny. Cause Curry was alot closer to Floyd's level, then he was Cotto or Marg. But regardless... stylewise I could see Manny beating Curry. I STILL believe that prime Curry beats Floyd however.
I agree with you that stylewise curry has a better chance of beating Floyd than he does beating Pacquiao..but guess what..he loses to Floyd as well.
I don't like the chances of many counter punchers against a welterweight Pac. Curry has a better chance than most but i think he would need a KO. If I have a fiver in my pockets at the bookies it's going on Pac.
Curry was not strictly a counterpuncher... Marlon Starling was strictly a counterpuncher... Curry could attack with equal ease, he was arguably better that way... and where does this idea of Curry being vulnerable to straight up the middle punches come from? from what I see, Curry had a lot more problems with left hooks than he ever did with straight punches
I'd class Curry as an aggressive counter puncher. He looked to press openings but he was still looking to react rather than lead or force the action. One of these confusing guys who's doing a different thing with his feet than his hands, if that makes sense.....you expect a counter puncher to operate on the outside and invite a guy forward - Curry wasn't like that, generally - but he was still looking to pattern what you did, neutralise your key weapons & react off of what you gave him. Counter puncher, IMO. Winky Wright is another who could press a fight forward, but was an essential counter puncher, IMO. Said guys will not respond well to the type of variety and volume Pac brings at welterweight, IMHO. They'd struggle for the same reason Ali struggled with Frazier and Norton, even though, with their feet they might ostensibly be the ones pressing the action against Pac. That said, Curry has a viable punchers chance here.
Curry had a lot more offensive firepower and variety than Winky Wright... He not only could hurt Pacquiao, he would at some point... people are getting crazy with Pac-Man now... Curry is the best big man he would ever have fought by a cold mile
