I've always felt Quartey would whoop the Pac Man, and I still do. That jab ALONE would throw Manny off his rhythm, and that right hand (Sloppy as it could be) hits hard enough to make Pac hesitate in coming in. Quartey via UD or possible late stoppage.
I don't know. Quartey had a wonderful jab but traditionally it's a not a powerful weapon against a southpaw. I think Ike would have a lot of difficulty handling Manny's speed of foot. He wouldn't be able to freeze him with the jab and simply allow the right to follow naturally. His big edge on physical strength wouldn't matter much either as he's not an inside fighters and Pacman also has the edge in stamina. And while some might say Manny never beat a welter as good as Ike, the reverse is also true. If Quartey does win it's going be damn far from easy.
See, I think Quartey's jab WOULD land. Manny's gotten hit with jabs by opponents who used it well, especially at 147 and above. And though Ike wasn't a typical inside fighter, his ability to push Pacquiao around would have Manny out of sorts IMO. And I think Ike's right hand would have Pacquiao very cautious and not doing his usual flurries of 3-4 punch combos. Floyd would have won more impressively if he wasn't so scared of Manny's power.
How dare you disagree with me! :fist: Come to Houston and tell me you're reasonably well argued opinions.
When Pac lines up his straight left hes lined up to get smacked with Ike's jab and that jab will have a totally different effect on a lil fellow like Pac than big welters and junior middles like Espana, DLH and Vargas. It's not going to just pop his head back it's going to move him and stun him. Also pac didn't have a lot of one shot power at 147 and if Ike wasn't scared of getting caught he was a very physical and ruthless guy. I think Ike is generally a bad matchup for smaller welters that depend on workrate or defense because of his strength, his jab and the way he could impose himself when he wasn't threatened by big power.
