the Cotto vs. Margarito fight was similar to Tszyu vs. Phillips....

hopefully Cotto rebounds back like Tszyu...

If by that you mean that Cotto will never fight Margarito again............you're probably right.

I think Cotto would be insulted if he was compared to the Australian uber-bum....

unlike vince phillips, margarito has been a consistent guy in the past 8 years in the world ranks and has won the welterweight title on 3 occasions.

phillips at his best was a beast, but the guy had poor training habits and has never been a consistent competitor. his also been knocked out a few times.

Philips had like 10 losses (was coming off of one) by the time he made Zoo his bitch.

that uber-bum would've put cotto to sleep if they fought at 140.

it took that guy only 2 rounds to stretch judah, who busted up cotto on several occasions in 10 rounds.

That uber-bum would've quit even faster than he did against Hatton, if he ever found the balls to face the magnificnet Puerto-Rican.
Too bad, the only time Kostya faced an elite fighter in his career, he quit....

oh, my bad....and, pray tell, how many losses did he have afterwards?
I also note that you don't dispute the fact that Philips was coming off of a loss when he fought the uber-bum :bears:

it doesnt matter. it was nothing comparable to margarito-cotto.

margarito was considered a darkhorse by many and the cotto fight was heavily anticipated.

phillips beating tszyu that year was a huge upset. it was supposed to be a showcase for tszyu that night.

A random question, my dear Joons...do you know who the uber-bum fought in his next fight after Vince steamrolled through him?

i dont know what you're trying to imply. go to boxrec and check. he fought ismael chavez, calvin grove, and rafael rueles before fighting d. hurtado on hbo.

if my memory serves me correctly, tszyu went onto accomplish a whole lot to become one of the best jr. welters of all time.

cotto just got beaten the fuck up last week, so who's to say that he might even be the same fighter that he once was?

margarito is also a much more accomplished fighter than cool phillips.

    who?
The guy who's never done anything at 140?

The featherweight Calvin Grove? In his one and only fight at 140? In the last fight of his career? The guy who's never done anything at 140?

The lightweight rafael rueles ? The guy who's never done anything at 140?

Do you notice a pattern here, my dear Joons?

    :stir: Deniaaaaal, deniaaaaal.....

Cotto was a murderous, unstoppable, body-punching bulldozer, Roberto Duran! we all cried after Zab Judah weaved that all too familiar magic of his,...

    P4P 3#..

Hell, I only really wanted Antonio to make him run, and to take all Cotto's best shots like they were nothing,..I didnt ask for anything more??... but I got it,..
    he made Cotto quit,
and as the popular saying goes on American shores,.. you've got to... "Stand up and take your beating like a man"... well, ..........Cotto voluntarily fell to his knees and begged for mercy, what does that mean? :dunno:.

what did he do after that? he knocked out d. hurtado and miguel angel gonzalez. followed that up w/ an easy money fight vs. a shot chavez and then good wins over mitchell, urkal and judah.

this argument is going nowhere. whatever it is that you're trying to prove here just isn't gonna work.

The same hurtado who was brutalized in two rounds by Stiffian Harris and got brutally knocked out by the aging power-puncher Pernell Whitaker?

The lightweight miguel angel gonzalez? Who's never done anything at 140?

Do you notice a pattern here, my dear Joons?

Well depending on who you ask, I'd say it made him more of an Ali - Chavez - Liston - Frazier - Tyson -Ray Robinson sort, Dympeople.

Abdullaev didn't quit, he lost an eye, and then waved his hand infront of his socket to test if he could see anything, and the referee misread this as 'No mas'... :dunno: what could Abdullaev do?

When did you cry harder, Kauki when Zoo/Abdula quit or when Margarita won?

all three of his losses at that time came at 147. he was unbeaten at 140 until he got knocked out by Millett.

And the big loss he was coming off of when he fought Tszyu was a bullshit decision against Romallis Ellis - a fight he took a week's notice, no less. but dont tell that to cats like dymiboxrecstats

This is a ridiculous comparison. Margarito has been a consistent top five champion in his division for a long time, one of the most feared boxers at welterweight, while Vince Phillips was a mediocre boxer that had a lucky night.
