trinidad was well matched at 147. the seasoned version of margarito would give tito a very tough fight. margarito is 10 times better than yori boy and would've also beaten Oba Carr.
Joony, you'd pick Campas over Tito with the same kind of rationale if they didn't fight. Same with Vargas... Same with everyone in fact.
campas sucks. i wouldnt pick him over anyone. and i picked tito to beat vargas when they fought. vargas only had 20 or 21 fights. plus, tito was weight drained at 147. i'd pick tito at 154.
Your right, Margarita beats Carr & Campas. However, I'd pick a prime Vargas over Margarita everyday of the week.
Not during his whole stint. Trinidad would totally destroy Margarito. Trinidad was faster, he punched straighter and harder, he was certainly as strong, and, as funny as it may sound, he had a better defense. The only thing Margarito might have over Tito is chin, but it wouldn't mean much since he isn't a huge puncher. Tito TKO 6.
carr never won a meaningful fight unless u count beating yory boy is something significant. i'm not saying margarito would've beaten tito, but it would've been a very tough fight for tito. x's point in bringing up the vargas fight is retarded since we're talking about 147. vargas, there's another guy who never won a fight against a top level fighter who's in his prime. margarito is a VERY VERY hard fighter to beat. Williams, a freakshly tall fighter did by a skin of teeth.
I haven't seen the fight yet but the Williams fights I've seen didn't give me a good opinion of him, I think he's nothing special. I'm actually surprised he beat Margarito, who is certainly good, but doesn't pose any real threat to a guy like Tito. In fact, he's taylor made for Tito.
Vargas in his prime came closer to beating a better version of Paul Williams, a man by the name of Winky Wright. Also, I'll take Vargas' win over Quartey over Margarita's win over Cintron, since even a rusty Ike is better than Kermit. Hell, Margarita arguably lost to a homeless man's Quartey in Clottey. And for the record, Margarito would have beaten Campas, but not as easily as Tito did. Campas would have given Margarita problems, hell Antonio Diaz & Sebastiain Lujan did, why not Campas. Margarita is the most overrated fighter since Hamed, but thats an insult to Hamed!
diaz maybe won 2 rounds and got beaten the fuck up by a young margarito. lujan had a wild herky jerky style which provided moderate success in the opening rounds, but got beat up towards the end got his ear cut off. campas might have been dangerous for the first 4 rounds, but that's about it. margarito would've made him quit in less than 8. margarito is awfully a slow starter, but i dont think tito would've taken him out in 5. margarito would've came back strong and would've given him a tough fight.
Margarito did not arguably lose to Clottey. Margarito did not "struggle" with Diaz or Lujuan. Quit exaggerating just to make your point. Stick to reality. Try re-reading some of the claims you make before you post em. Wright a better version of Williams? Well, maybe. But he's not 6'3" and doesn't have the hand-speed or movement that Williams does.
wright would've beaten margarito with ease. he's simply bigger and better. even clottey himself didnt protest to the decision. he simply based his performance on the hand injury. i thought margarito won 8 rounds vs clottey. 114-114 is pushing it, but there's no way in hell clottey won that fight.
He doesnt have the height thats correct, but he had about equal handspeed. The Wright of 99 was not the same Wright we see today. He was much quicker, and sharper back then, even though he's probably smarter now. Wright would have done a number on Margarito.
Correct. And before anyone says "if Harry Simon could do it why not Margarito" my answer to that is..... Harry Simon was better than Margarito.
based on what? he BARELY beat winky and was lucky to get the decision. other than that, he hasn't beaten anyone noteworthy. winky would've beaten him at a neutral site. he also looked like shit vs. Rodney Jones (although simon claimed to have been sick). he may have beaten margarito at 154, but the dude ended up at 160 before he threw his career away. this, and your vargas comparisons are pointless. margarito is a welterweight. and why all the bashing? it's not like he got dominated by williams. a lot of people scored it a draw and some even thought he won.
Simon DESERVED the decision over Wright! Had they had a rematch, Winky would have probably won, but I thought Simon edged him out. And you shouldnt even brought up Rodney Jones, the same Rodney Jones that BEAT Margarito! Simon was better than Margarito. Much quicker hands, shorter, straighter punches with equal stamina and workrate.
uh, yea when margarito is was a teenager. rodney jones is how much older than margarito? simon deserved the decision over wright? i saw an extremely close fight which could've gone either way.
This fight would have been so brutal. It would have been such a delight watching Margarito try to impose his will on Tito ::
For this MM, do Margarito and Tito both have their illegal wraps? If so, it'd be interesting. Both guys without, I pick Trinidad.
