MARK CUBAN'S HDNET SIGNS RANDY COUTURE
By Jim Barlieb and Matt Goldstein

Randy Couture to take on Fedor Emelianenko Next Fall or Winter?

Mark Cuban’s HDNet Fights sued Zuffa, the parent company of UFC, last week in Dallas. The suit seeks declaratory relief concerning Randy Couture’s contractual status under a promotional contract with Zuffa. According to the filing, HDNet Fights has entered into a contract with Couture that is scheduled to commence upon the expiration of his Zuffa promotional agreement. At that time, the company plans to promote a fight between Couture and Fedor Emelianenko in Dallas, assuming terms can be reached with the Russian Heavyweight who has been considered the best HW in the world for several years. Also in the filing, Couture has stated that he believes his Zuffa promotional contract expires in July. Zuffa maintains that the contract remains valid indefinitely. Both sides agree that the 1 year non-compete provision in Couture’s employment contract with the UFC expires on October 12th, meaning that the even with a favorable outcome concerning the term of Couture’s promotional contract, the earliest Couture-Fedor could take place would be in the fall.

Who knows what the ruling will be on the UFC against Couture. The truth is he breached the hell out of his contract.

Slave contract my ass, he was compensated pretty well compared to most MMA fighters. Slave contracts are the shit that guys like Forrest Griffin get when they won TUF, not Couture's contract.

Its a slave contract....PERIOD!!! Its the same contract they offered FEDOR and he was smart enough to turn it down.I've explained why it was a slave contract in another thread .Randy should of took BODOGS 3 million dollar offer to fight Fedor in the first place, then after that was over with then sign to be the UFC's slave

Explain all you want. When a guy is offered millions and you call it a slave contract then it shows you don't know what you are talking about. Especially when it's MMA, Fedor is a dumbass and so is Couture.

Its not about money Valdosta and you know it,so wipe Dana's semen out of your eyes.Fedor would of been paid but he would be giving up his freedom for opportunities outside of the UFC like movies, merchandise, interviews,Sambo tournaments and on top of that he can't leave without losing two fights in a row exc exc.Not only is M-1 paying him more but he's able to continue his business out side of MMA and he's also a free agent fighter so he can compete in any promotion on the planet but yet your head is so far up Zuffa's ass that you can't see that M-1 CLEARLY!!! offered him a much better deal in comparison to the contract the UFC gave him:rolleyes:

The reason its a slave contract because he needs the UFC's permission to take a piss every morning

There might not be a UFC either with these sale rumors floating around.
If they work with the Dream promotion in Japan(New Pride yeaa!!),then there not going anywhere.M-1 more of an agency than a promotion at the moment.

UFC isn't going anywhere. They're doing better then ever. Hell, UFC 81 just did a reported 650,000 PPV buys.

I know there was some problems with Xyience, but I haven't read the details, especially as to how it pertains to the UFC. Got a link?

I'm not doubting you, I just haven't researched it.
