Alright enough with all the PAINFULLY repetitive Pac/Floyd/Martinez talk.

The "big" week is FINALLY here! I was praying that there'd be no further post-ponements, and the boxing gods have been kind. We have two EXCELLENT matchups coming this saturday, and I dunno which I'm more excited about. So, final predictions for Marquez-Kat, and Froch-Abraham.

Marquez-Katsidis: Part of me actually wants to pick the upset here, but I'm gonna remain faithful to my head. Marquez by late stoppage. Kat will push the fight, and make Marquez fight at a high pace, and I think they'll be some very rough moments for the aging great in this one. In fact, we might even see Marquez hurt at a point or two. But gradually, Marquez's accuracy and skill level will take its toll on Kat, and the ref will jump in to save Kat in about 10. In other words, I think it'll be similar to first Marquez-Diaz fight. If Kat pulls the upset though, I wouldnt be shocked. Marquez looked vunerable in the Diaz rematch.

Froch-Abraham: Froch will start off well, and out work Abe early, as EVERYONE does. But by the middle rounds expect AA to start landing his underrated jab in Froch's grill, and banging him to the body. By the later rounds I think Froch's hands drop lower, and he opens himself up for AA's right hand. I think circa the 10th or 11th AA finally lands REALLY big, and is able to put away the farmer. AA KO 11, though I actually wouldnt be surprised if he stopped Froch alot sooner then that. I'd be shocked if Frochy won this fight, and if by chance he does, I'll give him the full props he deserves and I admit I underrated. But trust me... I wont have to. Froch is getting fucked up.

I wont bother predicting the two Andre fights, because the chances of Bika and Freddy Herndandez pulling upsets are very slim.

Marquez UD after hurting Katsidis late on

Froch comfortable UD in a great scrap where he still won't get credit afterwards

Maybe I am the Cobra... Boxer and house renovator extaordinaire

Outside of Pacquiao and Martinez, Froch has faced some of the best competition out of anyone in boxing, and he still gets called a bum on here. So no, I don't think he will get all the credit in the world

These are a pair of EXCELLENT match-ups; 2010 has been a pretty shitty year for boxing but the last eight weeks of 2010 may well yet come riding to the rescue. The action in the last two weeks has been seriously good :bears:

Anyway, Kat-Marquez first. I am probably Michael's biggest fan on this site. The guy is a WARRIOR, plain and simple, and you have to practically kill the bastard to beat him. But if JMM has anything left in the tank, he wins this with room to spare. IMHO Katsidis all action, come forward style is made to measure for the technical, pure counter-punching that Marquez usually brings to the party in spades. Katsidis might hurt JMM, but I can't see him doing what Pacquiao couldn't in 24 rounds- get JMM outta there. Juan Manuel is one of the most durable little fuckers you'll ever see and Kats probably doesn't quite hit hard enough to get the job done. So I'll take JMM, in an exciting battle, probably by late accumulation stoppage around round 11.

As for Froch and Abraham; this fight is the ultimate test of Carl's supposedly iron chin. I've never been that convinced of it, to be honest- Pascal had Froch pretty badly hurt at several points in the middle of that fight, Taylor had him down hard with a shot Carl didn't see and Dirrell also hurt Froch in the all-to-rare moments he chose to engage. All of that leads me to believe that AA, who is one of the hardest, single-shot punchers in the game right now for me, will have Froch is serious bother if he lands that jackpot shot.

The question is whether or not he lands it. I suspect he might. Froch cannot defend himself for shit most of the time. He holds his hands ridiculously low and he is nowhere near as fast as he thinks he is. He can be hit and he can be hurt, though you cannot deny that he is one tough little bastard and you practically have to kill him to beat him. I just don't think it'll be enough here.

Abraham by late stoppage whilst behind on all three cards is my pick. If Froch wins this though all of this underrating the bloke has to stop. I've never seen such a decent fighter underrated by so many people.

I like Marquez to win a hard fought decision.

I can't be objective about the Abraham-Froch fight. I have to root for the Englishman. I think he can win but almost everyone I respect at picking matchups picks Abraham. Fuck it... Frock W12.

Why does he not get credit NOW? He holds three legitimate wins at elite level, including one over the top 175lb-er in the world, and one close, contentious loss away from home against a guy who gave Calzaghe one of his toughest fights.

Froch is the best British fighter currently active IMHO. And it isn't even close.

So do I. But that doesn't explain why he gets no credit now. He has more top level wins than every other British fighter currently operating put together but with every new fight he has to prove himself. It's very odd...

Katsidis' Aggression will HELP him Early but it'll B his DOWNFALL the Loooooonger the Fight Lasts...This'll B an ENTERTAINING Fight, Somewhat Similar to Diaz-Marquez I...Katsidis will Start Fast, but Ultimately, his POROUS Defense will Lead to him Getting KO'ed...Probably Around the 7th or 8th Round...Even Though he's PAST his Best, Marquez is STILL an Accurate, Hard Hitting, Counterpuncher...

Abraham-Froch will Also B an Entertaining Fight...Though Froch has Subpar Defense as Well, Abraham's LACK of Workrate will Keep Froch IN the Fight...If Abraham STARTS a Fight w/the Same Level of Urgency he Showed LATE in the Dirrell Fight, there's Very Few Supermiddles who Could LAST w/Him...He'd WAX Froch in about 4 Rounds, if he Let his HANDS GO More...

But as is, REED Can Only Go Off what we've SEEN Out of Abraham...He'll Show the Same PUTRID Workrate that we're Accustomed to, Froch's Superior ACTIVITY will Get him a LEAD on the Scorecards & Abraham will have to Make a Furious Latter Rounds Rally...But even w/That, Abraham Hits Tooooo HARD & Froch is toooo AVAILABLE...Abraham by KO, in the 10th or 11th...

    Great, GREAT Night of Boxing!!!....

The "Problem" w/Froch is that he's Solid yet UNSPECTACULAR...While he's Not SLOW, Froch Doesn't Really have Speed Either...His Power Gets the Job Done, but he's NOT Really a "Puncher", Per Se...He's Not Devoid of Skills, yet even a Guy like Jermain Taylor was OUTBOXING him...Speaking of Taylor, Amongst those that KO'ed him, who Came the Closest to LOSING to Taylor???...Carl Froch Did....

Sure, Froch is Clearly an ELITE Supermiddle, but he's More of a "Middle of the Road" ELITE Supermiddle (if that Makes Any Fucking Sense:lol:)...REED's Picking Abraham to Beat him, REED would Pick Ward to Beat him & REED would even Slightly FAVOR Dirrell in a RE, on Neutral Soil....

Froch is GOOD, but there's just the Feeling that there's SEVERAL BETTER Supermiddles...Time will Tell if this is True...

REED Likes Froch's SWAGGER, Personally...Seems like a FUN Dude & his Confidence is GENUINE...His Significant Other is HOT Too!!!.....

    My fellow Brits are right.

    Frock has some good wins.

A ballsy, clear decision over Pascale, who is certainly a prime, legit fighter, and a win over Dirrell, even though it's a hideously ugly fight, that's more Dirrell's fault. And Taylor too.

Yet the guy literally gets called a scrub?

He might fight like a drunk farmer and talk about house renovations, but the boy can fight.

I'm picking Frock by decision over Arabham and Marquez to win in about 7 rounds after being bullied and hurt a bit early on. Marquez's skill and accuracy starts to take over in 4 or 5 rounds.

PS - REED, Frock is actually pretty slow it has to be said. Slow and cumbersome, like a drunk farmer. I guess that's why people underrate him so much, because at face value, he looks crap.

I'm so tempted to pick Katsidis by KO, Diaz rocked JMM and Katsidis hits way harder than Pillow hands Diaz. If he makes it a slug fest I can see him getting the stoppage.

I'm not making a pick yet though.

See, to REED, a Guy like Margarita (or even Pavlik) is "Slow and Cumbersome"...Certainly, Froch has NO Speed to Speak of, but REED wouldn't Call him "Slow" Either....

Yeah they are both slower than Frock, but I think Frock is a bit slower than average for a super middle. Plus he just looks a bit clumsy and imprecise.

However, on the other hand, to go along with this sort clumsiness is a certain unorthodox quality, which makes Frock a bit less predictable than he should be.

The irony of it is that Froch evidently THINKS he is really, really fast. He holds his hands preposterously low as if he has the most wonderfully fast hands in history, yet he really isn't fast at all.

The reason why Froch is so underrated is that he LOOKS like he is shite. MWS repeatedly referred, for many years, to Froch as 'the fighting farmer'... As you say, he isn't especially fast, he doesn't have especially heavy hands, he doesn't have especially good defence (in fact his defence is awful) and he doesn't, despite what many have claimed, have an especially great chin.

Yet these are the very reasons why he should be commended. He has gotten where he is, and he is unquestionably one of the best fighters in his weightclass in the world, by being incredibly hard to beat, as durable as fuck, wonderfully tenancious and through as an incredible will to win you will ever see. Even in his losing effort re: Kessler, the last round was TYPICAL Carl Froch- caution-to-the-wind, balls-to-the-wall action in a desperate bid to get over the finishing line.

In spite of his obvious limitations, Froch has done exceptionally well at the kind of world level that guys like David Haye and Amir Khan have yet to reach. Yet those two are household names in the UK and Froch is relegated to some obscure, satellite channel in his battles with other elite 168lb-ers.

    It's a real waste IMHO.

LOL.no doubt he is deluded. Carl Froch is by far the biggest overachiever in boxing. For that he deserves alot more credit than he is currently getting.

Historically, it Takes TIME for "Overachievers" to Get the RESPECT they're DUE...Think Back to Evander Holyfield, who had to Go Life & Death w/a Significantly Bigger, PRIME Riddick Bowe, Before he Started Getting the Universal Respect he Deserved, in Boxing Circles...

I like Marquez over Katsidis via late stoppage. He is older yes and near the end, but his experience and better skills will get it done.

I'm actually taking Froch over Abraham via UD. I think Froch is definitely underrated and Abraham is just a bit overrated. AA's power at 168 doesn't convince me. He KO'd Taylor, sure but JT was arguably damaged and finished after that first fight with Pavlik, and never once did Abraham seriously hurt Dirrell in that fight even though he was coming on a bit towards the end. I think Froch has the heart and toughness to hang in there with him if he has to take a shot, and AA's low workrate will allow the Cobra to win alot of rounds. There is certainly the possibility of a late stoppage. But my guess is that Froch will survive that late round scare and hang on to get the decision.

And yes, Froch's spouse is very hot.

Marquez by TKO 10...I really want to pick Katsidis, but i think Marquez skills, pinpoint accuracy and straighter punches will be the difference. Yes Marquez is OLD and a few pound above his best weight...but I still can't take out of my head an OLD ASS CASAMAYOR stop Katsidis late....I mean that Casamayor was old and useless bum ass Jose Santa Cruz had defeated easily a fight before...

    so Marquez by TKO 10

    Froch by UD....

I don't want Abraham to beat Froch...I want him to punish Froch then KO him...offical time 2:59 round 12.

Don't want Froch to have the satisfaction of saying he took a beating and wouldn't quit.

I wouldn't say Froch is slow but he's sloppy. Always available for counters. He'll have a height advantage but the reach disaparity shouldn't be that much. Abraham has a long reach for a guy his height.

Abraham is kinda like Kostya Tszyu to me...he finds a way to break you down over the course of the fight. he figures you out as the fight goes on.

I think Froch will have success early...so much so he'll get careless and over-confident as the fight wears on.
