Max Baer vs Jack Dempsey

    I think Baer is probably a little too big and storng... not Luis Firpo big and strong, but big and strong and actually a good fighter

    Hard to say though, Dempsey was plenty quick of foot and certainly had power

    Big & strong was Dempsey's forte. Besides, Baer & Dempsey really aren't much apart in size, truth be told.

    Where they are far apart, in my view, is in speed & technique. Dempsey is simply a different class of fighter to Baer, even though I said in another thread Baer is sometimes under-rated, as I see it.

    Dempsey had the better combinations, faster hands, similar power, at least as good a chin, was the better finisher. I don't see Baer having anything more to cheer about than perhaps a quick knockdown. Dempsey beats him up & chops him down in about eight, IMO, with a small window for the fight to be stopped much quicker than that.
