After all this business involving Floyd of late, when could we see him back in the ring, doing what he does best?

A Pac fight is very unlikely as of yet, so who can we see him
    facing?

Who knows.... I personally don't care anymore.

But if I was to venture a guess the earliest we'll see Floyd in the ring would be in late 2011.

But I wouldn't be shocked if he never fights again either.

Only fight of Floyd worth seeing at this point would be against Pac. Now if Pac faces Berto and gets beaten, then Mayweather-Berto is an acceptable fight. No other Mayweather fight means anything.

Berto or the winner of Alexander-Bradley are perfectly good opponents.

Like the others pointed out, if the opponent is not Pacquiao, who gives a damn? He will not face even a badly damaged Margarito. He can fight any scrub he wants, I don't have any interest in watching Fraud against any safe opponent.

PBF is retired until proven otherwise.

So he's retired? Really? I thought he was just sitting out the sport, waiting for a fighter whose style he fancies more than Pacquiao's. Apparently, PBF views Pacquiao's style as kryptonite.

To me he is. It's how I'm coping with argubably the biggest P4P matchup in boxing history not happening.

I wouldn't be interested in either of those fights. Alexander and Bradley are both junior welterweights. Berto hasn't beaten a single decent guy except Collazo who he barely beat, and Quintana who is clearly shot.

Well if it helps you cope, then carry on. But let's be clear that, "retiring," in this case in no way absolves PBF from the responsibility he has to his fans and to the sport to face Pacquiao. Of course, he has every right to elect not to fight Pacquiao, but not without the consequences - not without a record of his having ducked the biggest challenge he ever came upon, and correspondingly the biggest check he could've made. PBF is telling it like it is when he says, "I fight for the money. I'm a prize fighter." In that case, if we hold him to his claim the money is king, then the only logical explanation for his cowering from Pacquiao is his belief he can't win, and that losing to him will mean earnings in future fights diminished to the point he'd be better off not taking the fight at all.

Bottom line: PBF doesn't believe he can beat Pacquiao. If we accept the premise he is a pure business man, it means he thinks long-term he will be better off not losing to Pacquiao, and staging fights like Mosley, Marquez, etc. than he'd be if he stepped up to Pacquiao, got destroyed, and then had to convince the cable networks that PBF/Juan Urango (for example) is still a fight people want to see.

Where does this shit keep coming from that Berto is some kind of worthy opponent be it for Pac OR Floyd? Berto is one of the biggest frauds in the sport and has yet to fight a top guy. I've been seeing his name popping up in people's posts lately as a respectable opponent but in my eyes he'd be nothing more than a tuneup for both Floyd and Pac. He still needs to show he's a top notch fighter because that belt he has doesn't mean shit.

You have to admit though, if this truly were the case, it's a pretty understandable business decision (one conveniently necessitated by fear and self-doubt).

It's not just the diminished future financial returns he has in mind, but also, diminished respect (and it's already degraded to some degree even as we speak) that could be flushed even further down the toilet if he were to lose that undefeated record.

I can imagine how the thought probably gives Floyd nightmares (the worst kind that could make you wake up crying in the night).

In a perverse way, his position is kind of understandable.

Then again also, in retrospect, you have to give props to a guy like DLH who (as despicably fake and opportunistic as he was) could've gone the Floyd route (shit, he still would've made millions fighting cans) instead of taking on every fight (and he did get around to facing just about everyone) we all wanted to see.

Well, Pac apparently had a choice of 3 fighters, Berto, JMM and Mosley being the fighters.

IMO Berto would be the strongest test of the 3 at 147 at this point in time.

For sure, but a fight with Berto would at least have the most question marks around it.

I agree Berto might just be the best of the three only because JMM is nearly done and is fighting at a weight which doesn't suit him best. The fact that Berto is the best option tells you why I'd have no problem if Pac announced his retirement tomorrow. Other than fighting Fled Mayweather he'll have proven everything he needed to in boxing, unlike Fled Mayweather who proved very little in the welter weight division.

Berto is an up and coming fighter. Normally in boxing the elite fighters fight guys of this calibre.

This last half of 2010 was all PBF's fault, previously, it was all on Arum. He never wanted PBF for Pacquiao or Cotto.

He's retired, taking shitty decisions with his life so unless he announces he's coming back to fight Pacquiao I really don't care.

YOU thought that De La Hoya would have beaten him, in fact you were certain of it. So it's convenient that you now claim that Pacquiao is his biggest challenge.

If Floyd had fought and beaten pac, you would have said that Pacman was a former flyweight and Floyd shamelessly ducked De La Hoya when Oscar was jnr Middle champion.

So which is it? no no no no no..which is it? :crafty:

How dare they discuss things with Destruction and Mayhem with their somewhat primitive skills? They're as good as dead.

Since when is Berto an up and coming fighter? See that's the kind of brain washing shit that you've fallen for. Berto's had a belt for I don't know how long and still has yet to be tested. Berto is not an up and coming fighter dude, he's been in the thick of this shit forever. It's just that he refuses to test himself. Even Floyd has more balls than Berto does.
