The highly anticipated July 18 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez has been postponed due to a rib injury sustained by Mayweather while training. The mega-fight was scheduled to take place at MGM Grand in Las Vegas and be televised live on HBO Pay-Per-View.

"I am extremely disappointed that this fight has to be postponed," said Mayweather. "I was training very hard and looking forward to getting back in the ring on July 18th."

"I was very disappointed to hear the news about the fight being postponed," said Marquez from his training camp in Mexico. "I will remain focused, in shape and ready to fight whenever the fight is rescheduled for."

Information about rescheduling the fight will be made available as soon as possible.

He Should CHANGE his Nickname from "Money" &/or "Pretty Boy" to "BUZZKILL"...

Its not been a great year so far, maybe its fault memory but it seems like a lot of fallow weeks in 2009 so far, and when we get a decent fight, there's not much of an undercard or nothing else on that weekend...

I would assume it's fairly serious injury if they are postponing a fight that's not scheduled for another month?

THE ONLY "Good" Thing about this is that Floyd Pulled Out PRIOR to the "24/7" Being Aired...

i just hope it is some one-off injury, and not a re-occurance of his hand troubles

True, but if 24/7 was being aired we may have been able to see the injury occur and the aftermath. If they postponed the fight, they could also postpone followup episodes of 24/7.

True, and although its been nothing new, a lot of the fights which have been made were one-sided or mismatches either intentionally (lopez-penalosa, mccline-arreola, berto-urango, dawson-tarver2, darchinyan-arce) or unintentionally (wright-williams, ortiz-arnaoutis, bute-zuniga, donaire-martinez) or just worked out badly (guerreo-yordan, khan-barrera)

Nobody gives a f*ck about Floyd Bitchweather. The future of boxing doesn't lie on his shoulders. When he f*cked off out of boxing for 2 years, nobody on this board gave a sh*t. Nobody should care now either. Leave boxing to the real men, not some faggot cunt who's only in it for the money and handpicking fights at catch weights while avoiding real challengers in his own weight class.

PBF/Pac would have been the fight that saved this year of boxing IMO. That probably wasn't going to happen this year anyway. Hatton/Pac was the marquee fight of the year so far and it's almost halfway through 09.

Pac/Cotto would have been highly anticipated before last night.

That means we probably get Pacquiao-Cotto near the end of the year.

Can't say I'm disappointed about that. That should be a good fight.

....Miguel Cotto doesn't seem the same fighter after Antonio Margarito....if Mayweather just had a bit of cojones he would have made the fight vs. Miguel...instead of Marquez..and get some honor back...but then again he would have to go through some tough spots to/if he beats Cotto...

Due to Cotto's tendency to bitch up and "cruise with smart skills" as you call it,.. I think he may actually have Fraud coming forwards...which is a pretty shocking sight indeed.

Bitch up is your boy Abdullaev quitting after Cotto was hitting him in the side of the face....bitching up is your boy Tszyu quitting vs. Hatton..in a fight he could win....bitch cowardnessim is your boy Margarito having to use cast wraps to beat Cotto...and it still took him 11 rounds...

What a bitch. It is not enough he is fighting a man half his size and never a welterweight now he feels a little pain and won't fight a tune up unless he is 100%.

It's alright... I'd rather have pets that you can pat and they dont bite you or, (bolt down the paddock) like Cotto,... whereas your just temptestuous because your beginning to see all the redneck juice splattered all over those gelatin boomers in your sig. You know...:stir: that it's about to come down... your giving way...

Dude you care. That's why you post so much about him. That's why every time there is a PBF thread you are commenting on it. If you really did give a fuck about PBF you wouldn't post about it. There are plenty of threads on this board that I don't give a fuck about and don't care to post in them threads but you on the other hand post on the PBF threads. Why is that. It almost appears as if you are trying to convince yourself that you don't care when in fact you really do care about PBF. I'll Holla 5000
