Has anyone heard the numbers for Mayweather-Ortiz? usually numbers are reported the following week, but it's been almost a month since the fight.

HBO and Golden Shower spent a ton in advertising. Seems they'd want numbers out ASAP.

Steve Kim mentioned 850k apparently but the figures haven't been released. The lower the better in terms of Floyd ever fighting somebody worth a damn.

    That's a wide gap, 1.3 and 850,000.

Prior to the fight, Schaeffer said the fight was tracking toward 1.7 million.

It's curious that they'd suppressed the figures if it was as high as 1.3m

    agREED.

Seems that would come out immediately. Perhaps they'll wait under after Hopkins-Dawson a fight we know will tank.

At this rate, they'll release Hopkins-Dawson numbers in time for Cinco De Mayo.

I dont know who was the genius that put Hopkins/Dawson on PPV. Whoever it is, should be fired.

Ross Greenburg "resigned." Consider it his parting gift.

He spent so much on instant classics like Bradley vs Alexander, there was nothing left in the budget to pay Hopkins and Dawson...thus Pay per View.

Don't forget, Alexander received 1.1 million for his next fight after LOSING to Bradley.

Yeah, it really is a terrible matchup. Probably an expensive one though... one that would really take a huge chunk out of the annual budget for World Championship Boxing. I know HBO already paid a ton for Bradley/Alexander... not sure how much fights like Kiltschko/Haye and Hopkins/Pascal cost.

I bet the budget was already tapped.

It'll potentially be more interesting than good... say, if you enjoy counting rounds in a close fight where not much happens.

Or, it could finally be Dawson's 'Fuck You' moment, and he'll step up and beat Hopkins easily. One can hope. I don't think he believes in his skills though.

Chances are the fight will be close and decision somewhat controversial.

So we will be "treated" to a rematch.

Dawson reminds me a little of Calvin Brock or Ricky Williams in terms of his attitude. He just seems so damn depressing at times. I see no enthusiasm whatsoever in his work.

Especially not good against somebody like Hopkins who makes opponents not want to be there.

Hmmm...I don't know about Brock. Brock doesn't have the talent Dawson has so he was less of a disappointment.

To this day...one of the most hilarious pre-fight promos I've seen was the clip of Brock tap dancing.

Steward nailed Dawson in the Pascal fight in terms of his reluctance to let his hands go and to own his own talent. He's the American Audley Harisson.....a waste of the body God gave him.

That's an insult to Dawson. He's 10 times the fighter Fraudley is.

Floyd vs Ortiz sold shitty, that is all there is too it. Otherwise you know damn well the numbers would have been released within a week after the fight.

I agree with this.I think people are catching on to Floyds tomfoolery and he needs to fight a fighter that actually knows how to fight(Pacquiao) or the numbers will continue to drop.

It doesn't matter. He still won't fight Pacquiao.

    It will be Amir Khan.
