I guess Showtime will allow him to fight scrubbier opponents than HBO

They are off to a bad start. There is nothing intriguing about a Guerrero fight, at least not at 147 lbs.

obviously showtime is paying him much more than what HBO was offering

Precisely. A sign of things to come I reckon. They'll be fine with him fighting absolute scrubs, as him being on Showtime rather than HBO is obviously good enough for them.

guerrero is a shitty opponent, but the fight will still sell between 1-1.5 million PPVs. it will be interesting to see if Showtime does anything new as far as promoting the fight on CBS than they did with Pacquiao Mosley

Mayweather is a smart whore....it seem HBO didn't want to give him 20 million to fight a decent 135 but a bum at 147 Guerrero...so he goes to SHOWTIME who are either always building up young talented fighter just so HBO can come in and take them, or give older fighters(Hopkins/Cotto) a chance to fight in their network if HBO is no longer interested...but if the fight turn out decent or somehwat compelling(Hopkins vs. Pascal I)..then they will snatch up the rematch fight...

Floyd is just finger fucking SHOWTIME...until HBO comes around to the realisation that they can't live without him...Karma would have MAYWEATHER getting beat at Showtime...

how is that possible when all reports are that he's locked in with showtime for the next six fights?

Both networks are fine with him fighting scrubs as long as the dollars are rolling in.

I thought Showtime signed "fights", not "fighters"?

I guess this is just one step closer for Mayweather and his dream fight against Abner Mares.

Imagine how great it would be if Guerrero were to beat PBF?

if thats the case, it means mayweather jr is extremely ripe to lose when he fights someone decent.

The only way this fight goes to distance is if Mayweather allows it. After 4-5 rounds Guerrero gets very sloppy with his punches and his footwork get extra clumsy...easy pickings for Mayweather. It will soon turn into Mayweather vs. N'dou/Gatti

Agreed. Floyd ain't exactly young or been active lately. He'll lose a few rounds before settling into a rhythm.

    Its a glorified mismatch.

Would Floyd fight Trout if he beats Canelo?

    Floyd 6 fight contract.....

    vs. Guerrero
    vs. Ortiz II
    vs. Malignaggi
vs. Khan(some day if he can string a few victories in between getting KO'd)
vs. Berto(considering 2 of his most recent opponents have beaten the deadly proving ground machine knows as Berto it's a logical fight)
vs. YoungLion(What the world has been waiting for)

Alvarez would be an easy win for Floyd, but even so, he's a 154 pounder so Floyd fighting him is unlikely. He'd have to look extra crap against Trout I think in my mind.

I'm excited to see this fight only because I dislike Guerrero.

I'll enjoy watching Floyd beat him down.
