Daniel Ponce De Leon vs. Rey Bautista and Jhonny Gonzalez-Gerry Penalosa will headline the HBO Boxing After Dark card. Any Bay Area/No. Cal fans - like Dsimon or Alabama - gonna make the trip up there for this one? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CEBU CITY--A press conference was held moments ago, led by top Cebu sportsman Antonio L. Aldeguer, announcing the August 11 'World Cup' of Boxing at the Arco Arena in Sacramento California. The event will feature the three 12-round bouts, topbilled by the WBO superbantamtam showdown between Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista who will challenge the very dangerous title-holder Daniel Ponce De Leon. The other world title bout will pit WBO bantamweight champion Jhonny Gonzales taking on the always exciting Gerry Penalosa of the Philippines. The third 12-rounder pits an IBF light fly-weight eliminator between Filipino Bert Batawang against Mexican Francisco Rosas. HBO Boxing After Dark will air the fights.
I'm going to this for sure. I want to see Bautista finally expose the shit out of Plodder De Leon. Dsimon, are you thinking of going to this? :dunno:
dsimon writes: I doubt it due to the restaurant still being in its "just opened" phase. Maybe I will catch the next one with you guys. For about 3 months from the middle of july my life is over and I am a slave, after that time things should be able to run without me being a constant presence.
The next one? I think the last time HBO televised a fight from Sacramento was Ibeabuchi and Tua...a decade ago. ::
