As should be no surprise by now, HBO is holding the date for Golden Boy Promotions...Schaeffer says he wants to make that fight: http://espn.go.com/sports/boxing/no...von-alexander-hard-work-dedication-paying-off
I'm guessing it'll be for the WBO title then. Since Kat will become the champ if Marquez doesnt fight him.
Yeah, I'd favor Katsidis. And I wonder what G would do with Guerrero if he loses, becuse he's 27 now, likely 28 by the time he fights next year...so while the "he's still young and has potential" talk has been with him for a while, he's entering the period of his career when he's supposed to be doing things, and I'm not sure I see it for him. If he does lose to Katsidis, do they go ahead and make a fight between him and Linares, Escobedo, or even Juarez (a fight that had some interest in it some time ago) and fill up another ppv undercard slot with it? In fact, all those fights looked more interesting a couple years ago.
You know, I wasn't sure Guerrero was going to see the final bell against Salido...and Katsidis may feel like Salido-on-PED's to Guerrero.
Guerrero's problem is he just isn't entertaining, for whatever reason. His fight with Casamayor was plain awful. I don't know why Guerrero didn't go to the body more with his left upper-cut.
Yeah, I didn't watch the fight but Guerrero's one of those fighters who just watch and wish he'd do more...and be more consistent from round to round. One thing I've often wanted to see him do more of is jab.
Fully deserved for Guerrero. Who wasn´t captivated by his last performance. HBO is a true cancer to the sport.
But it makes sense right? I mean, Marquez is the WBO lightweight champ, Michael Katsidis is the interim WBO lightweight champ....so of course, Golden Boy would like to see Marquez fight Amir Khan, the WBA light welterweight champ, and Katsidis to fight Robert Guerrero, a former featherweight and super featherweight champion who hasn't exactly faced or beaten very elite competition in any of the weight classes he's been in.
