There was talk about this fight but Leonard wanted none of it. Leonard had just beaten Hagler and Nunn had just beaten Tate. Who wins? Nunn "wudda dun 'im"! Nunn by 8-4 type decision.
8-4 for Nunn sounds about right. I could even see Leonard pushing it closer than that based purely on intangibles. But I would favor the bigger, younger, and quicker at the time Nunn to win in 88. 81 Leonard beats Nunn, even at 160.
Nunn was second to none. Really natural and smooth fighter. Seemed like he could fight with his eyes closed.
Nunn had every natural tool a middleweight could ask for. Great height and reach, excellent handspeed, power, reflexes, a very good jab, a solid chin... it's a crime and shame that a fighter as talented as him couldn't make the HOF.
Nunn definitely beats an aging Leonard in 88-89. All of the Fab Four was too old and/or small to beat Nunn around this time frame.
