Spinks by knock-out. I think sneaky Spinks was fast and smart enough to time one of Ruiz rushes with one of those weird over-hand rights he used to throw. And it'd knock Ruiz right on his azz.

Nah Ruiz had a decent chin, and he would be able to hit and hold easily against Spinks...but I think Spinks does easily enough to win a decision, maybe with a KD though.

No shit, but he didn't KO every damn fighter he fought he had very good power at lightheavy but decent at heavy, and Ruiz had a good chin, but his defense and holding kept him from being KO'd, and I doubt Spinks would come at him like Tua.

John Ruiz specialized in beating people much better than him. I think Spinks' power would not be enough to hold him off and as a result Ruiz' wrestling would make it a very difficult fight for him

Agreed. Spinks is clearly a better fighter but i think Ruiz would provide problems for him. Ruiz was a master and getting inside and wrestling, and Spinks did not have a lot of mobility at heavyweight.

How do you figure Ruiz had a good chin? Why do you think he fought in that God awful style? I'll tell you why: because he had no capacity to take a punch and no defense. So he held every chance he got.

All Spinks would have to do is hit Ruiz with one punch he didn't see coming. After that, he'd finish him without much problem.

I doubt that. If Ruiz' chin was that bad and if it was that easy to catch him, then he would have much more defeats on his record. Spinks was not a huge puncher at heavyweight and he wouldn't catch Ruiz blind the way Roy Jones did a couple of times

I didn't say it was "easy to catch him." What I said was, if you could catch him, it'd make a difference. Look at Golota. He put Ruiz on his butt with a well timed shot. There's no reason Spinks couldn't do the same.

The only reason Ruiz doesn't have more defeats is his ugly (and illegal) style of fighting.

Spinks was a fercious hitter at 175, sometimes negative style notwithstanding... that right hand was a killer

At heavyweight? not so much... but again his herky jerky style was boring as hell but incredibly effective.. I think he can avoid Ruiz and make him give chase en route to a unanimous, close, and EXCRUCIATINGLY BORING decision
