    Superb matchup!

Lyle was a superior boxer to Weaver, but he was also a guy that could get drawn into a trench fight and you could hurt him for sure (Jerry Quarry hammered him down the stretch in their fight, and Ali, behind on the cards, suddenly froze him and poured it on until Lyle was helpless and had to be rescued... its hard to knock Lyle for losing by KO to George Foreman in a classic sloppy slugfest... and he did overcome the brutally heavy hands of Ernie Shavers to score a KO victory) ... Weaver was a curious case in his own right... he wasnt any great shakes as a boxer, but he was a good brawler and had heavy hands... he looked like a serious threat one night and a bum the next... but assuming he as it his best, I think he could successfully draw Lyle into a trenchfight...
I think both guys hit the deck in this one... I see Lyle outboxing Weaver and sweeping the majority of the first half of the fight with Weaver closing the gap and making Lyle brawl down the stretch... I think its a fight where the winner (Lyle on points) looks like the loser at the final bell

    Potentially a GREAT fight

True, they are the most knowledgable members on the site to be perfectly honest.

    Lyle Crushes Hercules

Ron was taller than Weaver by several inches, and I think had a much more aggressive and meaner personality.

I don't think Michael would have stuck around very long with Lyle as Ronnie had the chin, and Lyle was another of the best heavyweights to never win a title, and in short, he was a bad motherfucker who had no problems killing a man outside the ring as well as in it, as he killed two men, one being his former manager.

Lyle was left for clinically dead after bing stabbed by another inmate in a prison brawl, but came back to life on the operating table, so that tells me he could survive the big punching ex-Marine in Weaver.

It would have been Weaver's hook vs. Lyle's overhand rights, and the rights would have won out.

Lyle would have disposed of "Hercules" much in the same manner as he did with Shavers, but just not in such a competitive fight.

    Lyle KO 3.

He had a real good one to stand up to Shavers' flush bombs and to Quarry's, much moreso than Michael did.
