He turned down a fight with Taylor to get slapped around by Kassim Ouma. Brilliant career-strategy. :: :: At least it is on a JMM-PPV, which means only ten people will see it.
awe man. he turned down a fight with a top middle-weight in order to take on a light-hitting junior middle-weight who's made mention of moving down to 147. still, he will get pummeled. and no amount of his crap stink will keep the vicious Ouma off him. i hope Ouma does a Hopkins on his face and he can hardly see when the fight's over.
I see this as a clear win for Mora. Probably a mistake not to fight Taylor, but it depends on the $$ he's getting for the ouma fight. I can understand why people were big on Ouma at one time, but his admiration seems misguided these days.
I see nothing good about Mora. He BARELY beat the contender guys like Ishe, and Manfredo. Ishe was just beat up by a guy Ouma dominated. Ouma is clearly better than anyone Mora has ever faced. It's a huge step up for Mora.
This will actually test his drawing power, since some seem to believe that his Contender status automatically equates more bank. JMM-Barrios figures to do no greater than 200K, and even that's being generous. I'd say 150-175. If Mora's name helps get this over, say 250K, then that'll speak of his future earning potential/asking price. If it's status quo, then he knows he fucked up by not taking the money when he had the chance.
That said, you gotta love the irony in this. Ishe bitched that he was robbed against Mora. Discussed the possibility of a rematch, but then found issues w/ The Contender brass and left. Signs with Oscar. Calls out Ouma, Powell and Verno Phillips. Now that he's offered an Ouma fight - he instead decides to leave GSTP. Who takes his place? The man he called out to begin with, Mora. One who passed on a shot at the world middleweight title and the high 6-figure/low 7 figure payday that came with it, citing ring rust among his many reasons. In this fight, Sergio will probably make around 10% of what he could've collected for a Taylor fight. Not only that, but is coming off of an even greater layoff, and against a fighter who will most likely make him work harder than Taylor. Absolutely brilliant.
No. I'm sure part of it is bias talking, but I actually like Kassim's chances in this fight. Between the two, you can expect a lot of , since neither is particularly heavy handed. MorOn coming off of a 1+ year layoff to fight a pressure fighter who never tires, isn't exactly a recipe for success. Sergio might win due to sheer size advantage, but considering his (Sergio's) style, timing could be a huge factor in this fight, which is why I like Kassim's chances.
Mora CAN'T Keep Ouma OFF of him & he has a Shaky Chin... If they Go 10 Rounds,Ouma by UD...If they Go 12,Ouma by TKO... REED
if Mora wins, it'll be with his usual stink in a shameful sham of a performance. he fights like a bitch and i hope he gets punished.
This bout should be promoted by ESPN/The Contender. No way GoldenBoy is gonna promote it succesfully to at least try to get half the arena full, let alone get enough ppv buys to break even. This should be on free TV like all Mora's fights after he won the contest.
I guess they made enough money on the Floyd/DLH fight that they don't give a shit about the rest of the year.:notallthere:
