Now these guys are retired and Diego Corrales is unfortunately dead i figured i would ask this question. Since i become a hardcore fan they are the most exciting fighters i ever saw. So it's interesting for me to see who you guys think is.
So tough to pick. Corrales won the best fight I ever saw. Gatti fought in the most great fights of the era. Morales was part of some of the best high-skill slugfests I've seen. Gatti?
Nice thread!!!! :bears: Difficult choice. hmmmmmm............................After much deliberation, gimme Morales!
Corrales! Morales stunk out the joint in some matches. Corrales has always given his best. And Gatti is just a human punching bag for the most part.
I chose Morales over Corrales because I see it the opposite way. The way Corrales just followed Floyd around the ring while getting steadily picked apart, wouldn't happen like that with Morales. Morales would go for broke with ferocity. Even when Morales was in over his head in the third Pacquaio fight...the man went down fighting.
Good question....hmmmm. Gatti fights consistently had the most action.....but if excitment merely = action then we would all stop buying pay per views and subscribe to bumfights.com. Corrales was the best puncher, and knowing a fight can change at any time is inherently exciting. And the first Castillo fight is undoubtedly the most exciting fight Ive ever seen. But he was also liable to zombie out and times and trudge forward purposelessly, following his guy around. So I voted Morales because he was the most skillful of the three and would ALWAYS make adjustments and come back when his opponent was getting the better of him . Ebb & flow + action + skill = excitment But it's close all three were awesome. And its a shame Morales is retired because he clearly beat Diaz.
He stayed down after nodding to his trainer. That's not called going down fighting, that's called quitting.:tease:
I'd have to pick Morales. There's not much separating the three in terms of pure excitement, but I give Morales the edge because it consistently came at a higher level.
Gatti. It wasn't until Erik got to the end of his career, or moved up to feather, take your pick, that one had a "will he won't he" feel for Eriks fights. Gatti, on the other hand, could be getting the shit bet out of him while smack bang in the middle of his prime. I forget who the third fighter was and can't be arsed to scroll back up.
I'm like Hatton, Jake. I'm getting worn down by all this hub-bub. Chico, a la Morales, wasn't in the real big exciting fights till the end. The Mayweather fight wasn't exciting, it was too one sided, I am afraid.!! What "exciting fights" did Erik have........Zaragoza and Jones were more tough fights than real exciting, the Pac Trio were great excitement but they were at the end. He is, IMHO, relying on the MAB fights. And, if thats the case, we could say MAB was the more exciting.:dunno: Gatti was always on the verge. Even when he was winning easily, a la Damgaard, that little Joe guy, he would get cut, break a hand, something to make you wonder if he was going to lose. Gatti was rarely in a fight that didn't have some attached drama....Gamache getting killed, Ward beating him up in the 9th.....his cut against that Joe guy, the Ivan Robinson fights....running out of steam vs THP in the fight he won the title in, the Baldomir beatdown {cos it looked like Arturo might do it...for a moment}....when was the last time Larry Haphazard climbed into the ring in another fight???
Morasshole is a fuckin bum so to me he's not on the list I picked Gatti cuz his lack of D, good chin and good punch made for exciting fights.. maybe somewhat skilless but exciting
I alway's found Corrales' fights exciting. Becuase he was one of the very FEW boxers that can pull out a KO punch out of his ass like no one else could.:bears:
Morales. Gatti's fights were often pretty crappy and Chico was a clown, it was entertaining to see him get beatings but not really that exciting.
Chico - he actually made a Casamayor fight exciting, not to mention he was in the greatest fight I have ever seen.
