Eat some crow, especially LOK, Lb 4 LB and Explosive. For years we had to suffer how the "great" Shannon Nosely would sodomize Mayorga and beat him like a bum. Shannon wnet life and death with a COMPLETELY shot Mayorga and needed a last second kayo to secure the fight. I had Mayorga ahead going into the 12th. I EXPECT CROW TO BE EATEN. He needed a last second kayo to beat a so called bum much like he did against superstar Wilfredo Rivera. I would also like to say that Margarito will stop Shannon like he did Joto Cotto.
I have been saying since Marge destroyed Cintron the first time and second time that he would stop Shane:bears: The only one who can outpoint him is Williams, and if he sits on his punches like he has been recently, Marge WILL chop him down.
Eat a dilz Ike. You've got to be freaking kidding me. Shane was shot as shit and so was Mayorga so this fight doesn't really mean shit for either one IMO. It really doesn't prove a fucking thing.
:notallthere: 36 Year old Mosley..coming off his longest layoff...fighting at 154.....fighting a naturally bigger guy....a guy whos last fight was at 168...fighting a guy who came in at 170+ fight night.... and Mosley was still able to score the knockout...other guys at 147 would struggle the same as Mosley did last night against a SHOT/but very prepared Mayorga.... You think...Clottey/Cotto/Margarito/Cintron would have an easy time vs. Mayorga..like Trinidad and DLH did...?
nOT cOTTO, but Margarito, Clottey and Cintron would beat Mayorga like he stole something. Don't give me that bigger guy/36 year old bullshit. Look at the prediction thread and come back with that shit. Most of you douchebags had shane by easy ko. If not for the 12th round, Mayorga would have lost an SD. sHANNON NOSELY = the worst p4p #1fighter in history
Your hate of Cotto is FUNNY...Cintron/CLottey/Margarito beat Mayorga but not Cotto.....::..Cintron heart and Clottey consistency will drive them to victory... At the end of the day those who predicted Mosley by KO were RIGHT....it wasn't easy but he still won by KO....
Cotto would beat Mayorga now just not easily. I guess technically Mosley by ko was correct. HOWEVER, people who thought it would be a one sided beatdown which was most of you were dead wrong. Nosely is so overrated it makes me sick.
Since WHEN is Scoring a HIGHLIGHT REEL KO Justification for Eating Crow???::... Did Shane Mosley LOSE Yesterday???... U Act as if Shane WASN'T 37 Years Old & Fighting @ a Weight Class he's NEVER Been Suited for... True Enough, Shane IS DONE as a Fighter, but NOBODY has STRETCHED Mayorga like Shane Did Last Night... That Should & DOES Count for Something... REED:kidcool:
STFU Ike! I aint eating no goddamn crow! Shane stretched the Nica! Plain and simple. And whilst Mayorga is shot, so is Shane! Mosley cant pull the trigger NEARLY as well as he used to, and his reflexes and speed are badly diminished. Whilst Mayorga is essentially the same, only his chin is diminished now. Shane beats Mayo 10 times outta 10, and had they fought in 2004 like they were supposed to(until Mayo lost to Stinks) Shane would have beaten him easier.
Mayorga tired and Shane stopped him that's what nearly everyone predicted would happen everyones a winner :bears:
Mayorga was on all fours just like he was the other two times he got blasted. Shane then put him on his back. No crow needed.
It always shocks me that fans can ever dislike Shane Mosely. The guy is a fighter's fighter. He always comes to fight. He never hides from anyone before or during a fight. And he's taken on the best fighters over and over again. The guy is 37 years old with 45 fights, never been stopped and has never failed to entertain. Boxing is better with Shane Mosely around.
dsimon writes: This thread is BS Ike.... Your point about this fight is warranted but secondary at best, i.e. if I used the same logic I would be even with Caligula in our betting, but the guy who wins wins, and Shane got the KO. However!!! I agree with your sig 100%. I always felt this way about Shane as well. He was basically fast with decent power. He was a good fighter, frankly about as talented, maybe a little less than Nando in the overall scheme of things.
dsimon writes: I like him, I even respect him... especially since the Cotto fight and how he handled himself. I just don't think he was ever that good compared to the elites. Shane got by on heart and determination... I respect him for that but can't realistically compare him to the elites is all.
I never disliked him, but for some reason never really took to him. Not sure what it was, as everything in your post is correct and typically the very reasons I'd root for a fighter. That said, I slightly disagree on the last part. Boxing is better with fighters like Shane Mosley around, but Shane himself needs to call it a career. He's not going to beat Paul Williams or Antonio Margarito at this point; if it's big fights he searches, than nothing other than a 3rd fight w/ Oscar awaits (zzzzz), and that's if there's any lingering interest once Pac-DLH is officially in the books. Maybe a 3rd fight w/ Forrest for the sake of trying to reverse at least one loss... but again, it's a shitty matchup and not one that's going to generate a lot of money or interest. Anything short of Floyd coming out of retirement and calling Shane by name, I;'m not sure what reason Shane has to not call it a career.
shane atleast salvaged my sporting weekend with the mets and florida (the gators) going down this was my highlight
This is what I love about the perspective of boxing fans. It's fun to disagree. Mosely in the last 2 years absolutely gave a boxing lesson to Collazo, fought to a razor thin decision loss to Cotto, and knocked out Mayorga. Personally I'm not going to dismiss him in a fight with Williams or Margarito if it had the chance of happening within the next year. At 147 pounds I don't think anyone has an easy time with Mosely right now. And the fact is, regardless of the opponent or the outcome, it is a sure bet to be entertaining. That alone makes me want to see Mosely continue fighting. On top of that, the Forrest-Mosely match-up you mentioned is one that I wouldn't mind seeing. Again, it promises to be entertaining and relevant.
I think Shane is not as good as he was in his prime, but does anyone? Shane is still an elite fighter at 147 and 154. I think Shane should definitely go for a fight with Margarito. Especially with the momentum he has from this win. Shane vs Marg is a fight I want to see!
I think both guys have slipped enough now to where they are more hittable. And we know Shane, as always, is going to push a fight. I could be wrong, but I'd like to see it. I certainly would rather see Mosely-Forrest 3 over Forrest-Mora 3. ::
Shane got beat by Forrest twice, and now he KOs the guy who KO'd his conqueror. It took Shane twice as long to ice Ricardo as I thought it would with my prefight prediction, but he got it done. Still, Shane looks to have aged really quickly since his rematch with Vargas. He should hang them up before he becomes a stepping stone, and that is a shame because I'm a Mosley fan. I guess I'll eat crow in that he took twice as long and didn't look spectacular doing it...but he still got it done against a good puncher.
So you wouldn't consider De La Hoya an 'elite' of this generation? You can obviously see the rationale I'm pointing toward.
Actually apart from first 15 seconds Mosley fought Forrest with a passion of 80-year-old eunuch in their rematch. That being perhaps the lone exception in his career though
Prime Shane Mosley "maybe a little less" talented than Nando? How? I dont see anything that Vargas does better than a prime Shane Mosley. Mosley has the advantages (IMO) in: Handspeed combinations accuracy bodypunching chin power (P4P) footspeed footwork etc. And while both were not defensive minded fighters Mosley has the advantage here, at least he moved his head and gave angles something Vargas pretty bad at.
