    I don't watch as much tv as I used to, but it's difficult for me to think of a more powerful/dramatic storyline than in Season 6 of The Sopranos, when Tony is hovering between life and death as a result of being gutshot by his senile Uncle Junior. Even though he's a mobster and a murderer, David Chase did a great job of making me root for Tony to pull through. When he hears the voice through the trees saying "Don't go, daddy", you hear that it is a little girl's voice---likely the way he heard her voice as a child.

    There are two Jim Croce songs... the sappy love ballad and the ridiculous novelty song about some sort of rural character with a big reputation... re-write each 30 times and you have the Croce catalog...

    what do you americans (and canucks for that matter) make of british actors playing american (or canadian...) roles? the british guy who plays the cop in walking dead, stephen graham playing al capone in boardwalk empire, hugh laurie playing House - do their accents seem fake etc.?

    americans playing brits - renee zellweger as bridget jones, gwyneth in sliding doors - are just a bit irritating really for most brits, i think. they both had a fairly good go at the accent, but we just kinda think, they're not british, why isn't there a british person doing this role?

    There's such a range of accents in the U.S., most UK and Australian actors can capture something that sounds convincing in some way or another to us.

    Even Colin Farrell did well in "Tigerland" when he first came over, but has lapsed in just about every attempt since.

    Off the top of my head, the best I've noticed at blending in are Hugh Laurie, Toni Collette, Guy Pearce and Damian Lewis.

    Daniel Day Lewis and Chistian Bale are two of my favorite actors, but I would classify their American accents as a bit theatrical and caricature-ish. Perfect for the parts they've taken, but not exactly realistic.

    He wasn't bad, and he did an understated vocal harmony on some of Jim's tracks. Jim Croce's widow owns a jazz café/restaurant. They had apparently joked around about owning one years earlier, and after he died, she decided to make it happen.

    The guy playing Rick Grimes does a really good job in my opinion. He was also in Love Actually and another British movie that really got a lot of flack for being shitty.
