Of the Last Year or Couple Years???...

    For REED, it's Paul Williams...

Stylistically, he's STILL Pretty Much a Volume Punching PRESSURE Fighter w/Slightly SUBPAR Defense & a VERY GOOD Chin, but he's Shown IMPROVED Power & a More VARIED Attack...

N the Phillips Fight, Verno was Overly Cognizant of the HEAD Shots, so Williams PUNISHED him to the Body (While Still Managing to Sneak in the Occasional Blow to the Grill)...Wouldn't Surprise REED is Verno was Pissing BLOOD the Following Morning...

REED has Also Been Impressed w/Williams' COMPOSURE Lately...Even w/a SHITTY Cutman, there WASN'T a Trace of PANIC N Williams:nono:...

REED had Williams WINNING a Close Fight w/Margarito, but REED Still WASN'T Impressed w/Him...& Obviously, the Quintana SCHOOLING did NATHAN to Alter REED's Perception...But SINCE Then, Williams has been VERY Impressive...

    Thus, he's REED's "Most Improved" Fighter...Who's YOURS???...

I'll be impressed by Williams when he gives Quintana his deserved rubber match and wins.

Williams looks to have improved a bit, but to be honest he doesn't look drastically different to when I first saw him.

I have to say though, I was quite impressed with him against marge, I didn't think the fight was that close. Marge came on late, but before that, Williams pretty much shut marge down, with his sheer workrate.

For me it has to be Vic. I hate the ratty little bastard, but he really seems to have peaked, and improved a lot since getting fucked up by Nonito.

....this whole rubber match with Quintana talk is nonsense......we boxing fans claim we are starved of big, meaningful fights......yet we demand this?

Dzinziruk says he's open to coming to the US for the fight.

That wouldn't be a bad match-up at all.

Yep. He just has a little more focus since his loss to Quintana. He's sharper with his punches.

how about tony whom u were sure cotto would destroy? and who lost to williams 7-5? and who given williams' "improvements" would likely lose a rematch to tony? is he good? or just a brawler with no defense?

Margarito is GOOD, but Certainly NOT Improved...He IS what he IS...Obviously, REED UNDERRATED him, but N Terms of Assessing him STYLISTICALLY, REED has been SPOT-ON about Margarito from Day 1...

Given Williams' IMPROVED Body Attack, Accuracy, POP on his Punches & Composure, REED ISN'T Sure HOW U Could Favor Margarito N a RE...& Williams STILL Possesses the SUPERIOR Athletic Ability & Workrate that he Did N the 1st Fight, Not to Mention Williams is BIGGER than Margarito & Margarito CAN'T Hurt Williams....

If Margarito was as CONFIDENT N his Chances of Beating Williams as YOU R, he'd have TAKEN the RE by Now...

"Shit" like What???...Going RIGHT AT Margarito, Keeping him on the DEFENSIVE & Keeping Up a 100 Punch PER Round Workrate???...

That's How Williams BEAT Margarito the 1st Time:dunno:...

U're SUCH a Fucking SACK SWINGER, Doub...& your "Logic" is PATHETIC...Based on the 1st Fight, U Somehow Actually GIVE Quintana a Chance of BEATING Cotto N a RE & Even Though Williams BEAT Margarito, U'd FAVOR Margarito N a RE...

& Even though he DID, U REFUSE to Admit that Quintana SCHOOLED Williams N their 1st Fight...& Even though he Conceivably COULD, U'd Give Cotto ZERO Chance N a RE w/Margarito...

All of this Because U're GLUED to Margarito's NUTs...

i'm going to provide a list to address your bull-shit. okay?

    1. williams beat tony with volume, not power
    2. quintana neutralizred williams' volume with holding and countering
    3. quintana's win over williams called for a drumming in the rematch if williams were to win
    4. williams, should he reduce his volume in favor of power in a rematch with tony, will lose
    5. tony, if he mans up for a rematch with williams, can win with a body attack - as good as william's stamina is, tony's is better
    6. cotto was doomed from round 1 gainst tony - styles make fights - cotto can't punch without being set
    7. quintana is a craftier and taller boxer than cotto - backing him up seems to to confuse and disable cotto

Fights in which the consensus inferior fighter wins....

    I think:

    Collazo beats Cotto
    Andrade beats Taylor
    Caballero beats Izzy and Raffy
    D. Diaz beats Guzman

    Others? Disputes?

    1. Somewhat agREED...But Williams' SUPERIOR Handspeed was ALSO a Factor...Not Only did he THROW More, but he BEAT Margarito to the Punch, CONSISTENTLY...

    2. The Fact that Quintana was a MOBILE Southpaw w/As Good or BETTER Athletic Abilty to Williams was MORE of a Factor than the Holding...agREED on the Countering...

    3. R U Saying that Williams' ONLY Chance of Winning the Quintana RE was by KO???...

    4. Williams HASN'T Reduced his Volume...Even Against Phillips, Williams' Workrate was NORMAL, but his Level of POP Definitely HAS Increased...He'll Bring the SAME Workrate & MORE Power to a RE w/Margarito...

    5. How do U Figure???...BOTH Men NEEDED Round 12 of that Fight, but it was Williams that OUT THREW & OUTLANDED Margarito by a GOOD Margin...REED has YET to See Williams' Stamina B a Problem & there's NATHAN that Suggests Margarito's is BETTER...Other than YOUR Margarito NUTHUGGERY, that Is...

    6. If Cotto was "Doomed" from Round 1, How Come it WASN'T Until Round 6 or 7 that Margarito TOOK Control of the Fight???...

    7. Quintana was Also "Taller" & "Craftier" when he 1st Fought Cotto & it WASN'T a Factor Whatsoever...Cotto TOOK Quintana's Heart, Basically...Cotto Did to Quintana what Margarito Did to Cotto, Only EARLIER...

I don't see anything different. H's still retarded and throws a thousand punches. He got a first round KO against Quintana, took off from 147 and has had two rubbish fights sine, against shite.

He SHOULD look good vs that.

REED Certainly ISN'T Doing Backflips over Williams' Recent Opposition, but THE WAY He Dismantled Verno Phillips Counts for SOMETHING...

I dunno, man. I think Spinks beat Phillips and got the shaft. A young buck, beating a 40 year old to the punh isn't shocking. Ouma did the same thing to a MUCH fresher Phillips years ago, with basically the same style of "Im going to start punching now".

Same, I thought Spinks/Philips was one of the worst decisions all year.

I know the opposition isn't top level, but even when contrasting the two different demeanor's be brought in to the ring against Quintana I like what I see.

That is true. Philips isn't an elite fighter AND he is 40 years old.

If you rated Paul at ALL, then surely you expected a dominant victory, I know I certainly did.

If he had struggled with Verno, I would have been as surprised as I was when Quintana beat him.

I guess so yeah. Well, as impressive as it can be to stop a "decent" 40 year old fighter. It's not like Verno is a legend like Nard.

But yes, I picked Paul to win a dominant decision, not stop Verno.
