Easy, right? http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1894410_1894289_1894356,00.html Manny really is a mega-superstar. I think if he would retire he certainly has a shot at becoming president of the Phillipines. What he is doing, fighting generally at lighter weights, in a sport that is struggling to create popular interest, is pretty darn amazing. I don't know if this was mentioned in another thread, but I found it interesting. They picked Lennox Lewis to write the blurb, which is also interesting. Thank God it wasn't an oral presentation.
I remember arguing with Sly that Pac was as popular as Mayweather (who he said was the new face of boxing) if we counted the fans he had in Philippines about 2 years ago. I feel vindicated today.
My intention was active boxer, should have stated that. Also the article stated Manny's political loss was in part driven by the fact that many didn't want to vote for him because they wanted him to keep fighting.
