http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJqQFbGXgd4 Seems like they were serious about this one at some point. The undefeated Heavyweight champ vs the athlete with the best combination of size, reach, strength and athleticism. Of Course Chamberlain wasn't a trained fighter like Muhammad, and Ali wasn't just a good fighter he was a phenom. But the difference in size is ridiculous. Chamberlains 92" reach to Muhammad's 78" and height of 7'1" to 6'3". :eeeek: Such dimensions from a FIT, well trained athlete are not something to overlook. Of course the skill differential in the ring would have been wider than the grand canyon and Wilt may not have landed a glove on the champ. but surely that size would have been at least a little intimidating for Ali. Ali would have probably stopped him in about 2 or 3 rounds. But it would have been a facinating spectacle nevertheless. Discuss. opcorn:
Had they fought, Ali would have put on a good show and let it go for some rounds entertaining people and making Wilt look ridiculous. Had Ali turned the heat on him, it would have been over in 30 seconds
Wilt was not a pro boxer, Ali was an all time great pro boxer. It would not have been a fight. Ali by destruction. Valuev would have done considerably better against Ali, and that's saying something.
My feelings exactly. Ali would have made a show of it for a round or so and then turn up the heat and take him out. But it woud have been fascinating to see the size differential in the ring. I can't believe people were actualy considering this. ::
who gives a fuck about size difference..if you're so into size difference let me fuck your girlfriend....since unlike you i AM a horse where it counts :: Good thing Ali didn't fight that fool, it would have made a joke of the sport..you didn't see NBA teams talking to ali about competing in the NBA finals now did you?
So do you think this is actually fair? The fact that Ali trained all his life in boxing whereas Wilt never did? But what happens if Wilt had trained in boxing all his life? With his tremendous size and athleticism, could he have been a good boxer? If uncoordinated sloppy slow big guys like Valuev can go winning world titles and beating top 30 fighters, or guys like Michael Grant who other than being tall and built beat a lot of guys in the top 20 in his day, how far could Wilt have gone if he had gone into boxing instead of basketball?
Wilt was tall but he had a short reach. 7'2" tall with a 92" reach only? Manute Bol was 7'6" tall and had a 108" reach.:eeeek: Wilt would have to duck down and bob/weave his way under Bol's jab, the tiny bastard.::
these tall freaks have huge reaches sure but i'm sure they're joints are fucked up enough and i don't belive any of them could even snap a jab out
you even made a thread about it, clown...:: that's not GD, not even MM, more like Smack Talk... way to go MOD! :kick:
Not true. They wanted to do it to make Ali some money. He was already ousted from boxing, and gradually going broke. First, they tried Jim Brown. Ali, Jacobs, and Brown were sitting on a bench trying to figure out a way for Ali to make money. Brown persisted to let Ali fight him for money. Jacobs loved the idea, but Ali always turned it down. Finally, they asked why and Ali got up and told Brown to do whatever it took to punch him. Brown tried, missed, then got angry and really tried knocking Ali's block off. Ali ducked and dodged every punch without even breaking his facial expression. Finally, a tired Brown gave up, and Ali said it wouldn't be fun for the fans. Then, Chamberlain was brought up. Ali thought it would be the same result as with Brown, but wanted to do it. You see, Chamberlain, at the time, was the most feared man in America. People thought he was a monster. Ali took offense to that a little bit. Chamberlain agreed, and Jacobs pleaded with Ali to not get under Chamberlain's skin. He knew that Chamberlain was worried. Ali was fine with everything, the pre-promotion, events...etc. Finally, when it came down to signing the contracts, Ali walked in and signed his. He waited for Chamberlain to get there, and when he finally did, Chamberlain gave him a look and then proceeded to the room to sign his name on the dotted line. Just before he entered the dorway, Ali shouted, "Timberrrrrrrrrr," and made a motion with his forearm that looked like a tree falling down. Chamberlain walked into the room, some arguing went on, and he walked out without ever signing the contract.
Good stuff, but how do you know this? ..................... You know, I'll bet if Lance Armstrong trained for marathons he'd be able to beat the best. Oh yeah, Lance did train for a marathon and barely beat 3 hours. And the top of the pile for marathons is under 2:15...and often under 2:10. And biking has to be closer to running than basketball is to boxing.
:: Ok, but really? Why was he the most feared man in America? I didn't see any professional record of his in real fights.
Bikers' legs are too big. That was Armstrong's big problem with running the marathon. Wilt was the biggest black guy anyone had ever seen. He was very boisterous too. "Big" NBA players feared him...so everyone else did. EDIT: I read it in Tom Hauser's Ali Bio.
according to his book, Wilt claimed he fucked 20,000. Never the same woman twice, and quite often at least two women a night. Not that I believe there's a shred of truth to it or anything, but he claimed 20,000
you're right if it's true than that comes out to fucking a different woman every single night for 54 years.. what a fucking idiot if he thinks anyone belives him
Well that's impossible, so if he said that he's full of shit. Let's do the math... Let's assume he started having sex at 15 years old. Even if he had lived to 115 years old (therefore having sex for 100 years)..that's 100 new women every year for 100 years. So let's say he was having sex for 50 years by the time he made that statement. That's 200 new women every year...which is what...a new women every day and a half? :: Edited: 20000? Double what i just said....
he claimed he had sex every day, never the same woman twice, but often two in the same night. he worked out the math part beforehand - it's just getting anyone to believe him that's been the real problem.
It is true and you just reinforced my post. I said Ali's draft dodging nixed the deal and it did at the core, Arben. Yes he was fucking broke because he didn't serve, and that blew the deal to shit when it all comes down to it.
