Guys I'm 6'3", weight 218lb but I'm NOT in shape. What do I need to do to achieve the following goals: * lose 14lb * get better overall physical 'tone' I need advice on various weight / aerobic excersises and diet tips. BTW, I don't want to achieve this ASAP - my goal is end of this year. Thanks!
14 lbs by the end of the year is easy as hell brotha the key is dieitng, if you sharpen up your diet and do cardio 3x a week for 45 minutes that 14lbs will be off in no time
At 6'3 , why would you really want to be less then 218 ? Fuck the scale , its the mirror that matters ... You need to pick up on a training routine. Stick to it , eat right and make your judgements based off a mirror and not a scale ....
Cardio = running, cycling, swimming, rope-jumping, etc? I don't look or feel right at my current weight - feel sluggish. At a guess, I think a total of 14lb off would suit me fine. Dropping the alcohol is no problem, I can do that fine (I'll replace beer and wine with vodka :: ), but it's stuff like 'snack' junk food: chips, chocolate, etc, that have always been my downfall....
The weight is not whats makes you feel sluggish. It's the kind of weight ... Start lifting and cardio ... I work full time , married with a baby and still work out twice daily 5 times a week , once on the 6th day and take off the 7th ... I'm sure you can make it once a day for 5 or 6 days per week ...
Not too bad - I'm playing tennis 2x a week, golf 2x a week and running 2x a week. Don't forget, LOK - not all of us have enough money to spend on a Octane Elliptical multi-purpose trainng machine like you!!! ::
... I can't really afford it either :: I have been playing tennis a bit as well man, I'm trying to get better..
Hellz yeah! I bought a Octain fitness ellipitical and today I bought a "playmate" tennis ball launcher! That thing is AWESOME
I wouldn't say that.. ,but as for the ellipitical, I figure if I use it daily, I'd rather get a good one. The Tennis machine is just SOOOO fun!
you know what? Guys that say "I don't have time" are just lazy.. that's what I believe.. Everyone has 24 hours in a day personally in my view I don't think "working out" needs to be so separate from life.. I'm much more into Bodyweight stuff than going to the gym for this reason. I like the idea of functional strength and a body that is built for the world. the only place you will squat 400lbs is in the gym... benching is hard on the rotators and really is a lazy exercise.. our bodies are built for exercising them... if we do not use them, they do not function right. Just use your body and eat decently and you will be in shape
wtf happened to those last posts post your routine again LOK :tease: i forgot what the theory was called, something about grease you said you only do 5 chins at a time.......how many can you do as a max? so i have an idea of what that is as a % ________ Dr650
To improve body composition it is quite simple it has just been whored to high heaven over the years in my opinion 3 things are important Sleep Diet Routine - that is not excessive (eg over training) and doing exercises that 1) increase the risk of injury or 2) doing exercises with poor form. Also there is no template that is "THE ROUTINE" different exercises work differently for different people, you will have to find out what works for you.
seems good but i always find it difficult to end a set until i can't do anymore i might give it a go with a few excercises......push ups, chin ups, one legged squats, military push ups what sort of results do you get in terms of muscle development? :dunno: ________ Avandia settlement
man.. give it a go... the bodyweight stuff.. you might be shocked. I was and am.. !! I'm starting to look like the incredible hulk!! for real! I thought I'd do only bodyweight stuff and trim down some.. well.. I have trimmed down my waist quit a bit but my chest and arms have gotten bigger I actually gained 5lbs in the last few weeks but waist is smaller.. I'm very impressed with the results so far! And I dont even have to go to a gym!
i've been doing a routine made up of bodyweight kind of shit i can just do at home...they're defenitely awesome excercises only thing is i've been doing a proper workout split with multiple sets to failure, one excercise once per week etc i'll give the grease your groove thing a go  it'll be less of a drain on the body overall, and fit in best with outdoor activities how deep into a set do you go before you stop? like as a % of what you can do overal? eg, you said you do 5 chin ups each time...how many can you do overall? ________ Cold case advice
I'd say go like 75-80% or so.. if you can do 50 pushups and you'd fail on 50.. I'd stop at like 40 or so... what is sad is when I first got into bodyweight stuff last year I think I could only do 4 or 5 chins.. When I worked in the gym and was training I could do 40 or so and do a good 15-20 with a 35-40lb dumbell in my feet now I do sets of 5 all day and I probably can do like 10-12
