I told you guys I was only doing it to get started. Hopefully it will develop and we'll take advantage of the new technologies out there and also have guests on every show. I'll basically take of of the editing and technological part. Andrew will host the show.

I think we are good with the format we have right now, too many people can be too much of a good thing.
I think we ought to handle this with a vote amongst Andrew, Sly, REED, and myself to include additional posters from the site, and Carlos can cast the deciding vote if it is a deadlock.
Current pro boxers and boxing trainers, managers, and promoters are different as far as including them as guests on the show is concerned is the way I would like to have it.
This isn't the message board on the radio, it is an entirely different entity.
Let us settle this with a vote in private, and I'll go along with whatever the four of us say is my opinion.

I think the idea may be to switch out folks...keep it to four, but maybe sub in 1-2 new folks occasionally, just for fresh perspective.

I was there from the shows conception and we are doing just fine the way we are.

sheesh, Karl. You react this way EVERY TIME someone has anything other than a glowing review. The man complimented the show, with the exception of one piece fo constructive criticism, yet you still feel the need to get in his shit over it.

for what it's worth, I was CLEARLY joking when I posted what I posted before. It's FightBeat radio, and I wouldn't expect to be back on anytime soon (even with Pandy back in charge).

But as far as Donny's mention - his opinion is hardly the exception on the subject. In the end, yes, it is up to the guys who run the show to decide who and how. But in the meantime, your target audience has every right to voice their opinion.

One last thing - if you truly believe the show to be separate from the message board (and last week's show was a huge step in the right direction), then stop referencing the message board on every show.

 

There is a big difference between giving someone props from the message board like Sly and REED who are on the show and having a lot of people saying they want this poster on, that poster on.. and so forth, Jake.
The show is just fine where it is right now, everyone is learning and it is getting better each and every week.

I think it is funny when pug told me at the last Top Rank card in Houston that was televised on "Vs." network that he was going to co-host a radio program with "the owner" of boxingscene "Rick Reeno"..well, where is it?
I figure you could fill us all in seeing as how you are employed there, Jake.

 

you have to ask pug that. I write a column for B-Scene every Tuesday, and waste the rest of my free time on this message board. What Rick elects to make my business is up to him. I treat that stuff as need-to-know. Whenever it airs, I will listen. Until then, unless he wants my input on something going on with the site, I'm content with the way things are.

Anyway, I find it funny that you're pushing this conversation toward insulting "that site", while I'm the one on here every week, offering feedback in efforts to help make FB's show the best it could be. I could treat it like a disgruntled ex-contributor, and shit on the show every week and hope it fails, while pounding my chest over writing for a top-ranked boxing website.

Instead, I praise the good, and offer my opinion/suggestions on what I would like, as a listener/fan, to see tweaked and improved on. Why? Because I've always wanted to see this site succeed, whether I'm a part of it or on the outside looking in.

 

I'll tell you what Jake, when your site gets their radio show up and running (if ever) IMO, then I think you will be qualified to critique this program, but be prepared to accept the same in return, bro.

 

I've NEVER been opposed to criticism. As a matter of fact, I thrive on it. One of the many differences between us, I suppose.

Anyway, if you have a beef with "that site", take it up with the site's stakeholders. If you have a beef with Mike, take it to him. "That site" isn't my site, it's Rick Reeno's site. I'm just a contributor to "that site." I write a column every Tuesday, and represent them at fights. I've already outlined this, within this very thread. Re-read it, absorb it, retain it. Because quite frankly, I'm tired of repeating it.

 

Jake, I went the other way as you did a couple of years ago.
But after looking at and evaluating the situation, I came back home.
You cannot have it both ways was the major lesson I learned when I left.
It is one of the other, bro.
Anything else IMO is a definite conflict of interest.
I don't give a rats ass about boxingscene, if anyone wants to take an issue up with me concerning that site, they know where to find me in Houston at the fights and I am very open, receptive, and available to anyone that has a problem with me or what I post, and that is directed at everyone there.
That site may be the biggest, or one of the biggest, but it is FAR from the best.

I was supposed to be on this thing a few years ago in its original format. I forget what happend with that, but wouldn't care if I was asked to try it out again.

It's nice that Karl has such a passionate, pro-fightbeat view at the moment...just a shame that everyone remembers what that opinion was a couple of years ago. Kind of poo-poo's his feelings right now.
