He can fight if he wants to but I don't have to watch. In my best George Foreman voice...He's gonna end up in a pine box.
yep, it was obvious he was on the way down before this ( close fights with Yoshida and Arona were showing he was slipping imo even thought he was awesome vs Fujita after that) but it look like the brutal ko loss to Mirko took the last remaining fight out of him. He needs to retire and tonight fight is a perfect last fight as he was competetive and many had him win vs a respectable opponent ( even thought the fight looked more to be between 2 drunken bums at a bar than between 2 top mma fighters)
UFC are hailing the fight as some sort of classic, but to me it was a pretty sad spectacle....we all know Silva is finished and Franklin has shown nothing in his last two bouts to suggest that he can make any sort of impact at 205....but i guess he's earnt himself at least one more chance against a contender.
The fact that Franklin couldn't put Wandy away, and that it was a competative fight says a lot about where Franklin is right now. Not only has everyone been beating Wandy, they've been destroying him, and Franklin couldn't even hurt him, and was rocked a few times himself. I think Franklin's stay at 205 will be short, as he just doesn't have the strength to fight at that weight effectively. Who knows what's next for Franklin? Maybe a fight with Forrest Griffin if he loses to Silva? TFK
Wandy is beyond shot. His hands are slow, reflexes are shit, stamina is gone. I feel bad for the dude. His no nonsense style of fighting definately has caught up with him.
Agreed. Franklin is very overrated. He was never good. He just fights in a crappy division. He'll be KTFO at 205 by non-main event fighters.
Welcome back Joe! :bears: What's with all the extended vacations inbetween posting? Are you working 2 jobs now?
UFC must be really desperate. Wandy was 1-5 going in to his fight with Franklin. 1-6 in last 7 fights now.
