The sad news regarding those in and around boxing continues, as Michael Rosenthal of The Ring reports. He says he was supposed to be in Vegas calling tonight's Pinoy Power 2 card.
Sad to hear. I think every young healthy person should stop for a moment and be grateful that they don't suffer from such an illness. You never know when it might get you.
scary how cancer can creep up silently and boom you're a couple of months away from death. Is there any way to test yourself for cancer on a regular basis? Like a test every 3 month to detect cancerous cells and shit?
Go to your doctor and get a physical done I guess. If they can catch it really early, they might be able to cure you before it spreads.
I'm pretty sure dentist can do a mouth swab if you ask them. Don't know if that's just for mouth cancer or other types of cancers.
I worked with Nick Charles for a lot of years when I was at CNN. He really is a nice guy just like the article said. We pray for him and his family.
I'm not a fan of him as a blow-by-blow guy, but thats irrelevant. This is terrible news. Hope he can pull through, but it doesnt sound promising at all. My god I wish they would find a cure for fucking cancer. It takes too many lives.
I really liked him when ESPN had their Sportcenter type show. I'd actually preferred the CNN version to the ESPN version for a long time and was disappointed when it got canceled. He never really clicked as an on-site announcer though. Hope he gets better.

I can't lie, reading that article yesterday left me choked up. Nick Charles is one of the nicest fellas I've ever met. No matter how you felt about his commentary, his ability to report news (sports or otherwise), he does everything with sincerity. One of the few people I know where you're hard-pressed to find anyone to have ever said a bad word about him.
Agree. I'll admit, I never thought he'd still be around at this point. I am glad he got the additional time. It makes you wonder what you'd squeeze into a couple of years if you knew that's all you had.
Yeah, writing that he never cries and then describing him talk about his daughter was very sad to read.
I liked him as a commentator. Glad to hear that he is a nice guy because anyone who has one of the best jobs in the world should be a nice guy.
Not all commentators are nice guys, though. In fact, quite a few are pricks. Nick and Steve made a great team, though. Steve is a bit more off-the-cuff, but both knew how to have with what they did/do and handle their status with class.
