Man, is this card cursed or what? First Overeem gets hurt, then Riggs, then Josh Thomson, now Diaz skips his drug test and he's out too.

Hasn´t Diaz failed a test before? He should be banned for two years.

Man, this really sucks for Cyborg-Carano. These two have made enough noise to headline an MMA card and now that card has gone to shit overall. I feel bad for the chicks.

Missing a test can be worse than failing one....Diaz could be in big trouble, which is a shame since he's such an exciting fighter.

Diaz wouldn't pass so he didn't go. He's got a prescription for medical marijuana, he is up front about it, everyone including the CSAC knows this. He was under the impression that he would submit his sample the day of the fight. That was not true and he was given 2 days notice for the test. Obviously he can't pass so why would he go?

Yes, he's tested posative for weed once before. Why that would matter in combat sports is beyond me. Like smoking weed could ever be considered performance enhancing. lol

 This might sound stupid, but I feel A LOT more comfortable boxing when I'm a little stoned. It's weird.

But simply having reefer in your system would not enhance anything.

because by not going, creates ambiguity....it could be any drug(s) that he's trying to evade detection of....if he goes and tests positive for weed, that's not good for him, but, presumably, he wouldn't be looking at the same suspension as he would if he goes in and tests positive for roids.....by not going, he's really hanging himself out to dry

That's not true at all. Innocent until proven guilty.

Without any evidence, there's nothing anybody can do.

No test, no fight, no crime.

It's not like people can go "Yeah, I think he might have taken some roids actually, let's ban him and fine him"

of course they should, missing a test is a serious offence.

.....what happened to Rio? He didn't fail and test, he simply missed one....and had the book thrown at him. Look at the Christine Ohuruogu saga. Different sports, different authorities...but the same logic applies.

btw, for those that don't know, Rio Ferdinand is a premier league and England footballer who missed a drugs test and was subsequently banned from football for 8 months.

Not as serious of an offense as FAILING a test.

you can't really equate the two, because it depends on the drug, and thye circumstances surrounding the missed drugs test. The implications of missing a test are considerable. By missing a test you are leaving so many possibilities open.....from minor to major. Fail a test for weed, and it is considered a pretty meagre thing (although some authorities come down on this harder than others).....you show lenience to someone who is missing tests, then what sort of message does that send out?....it is paramount to the integrity of the sport that the rules are applied as strongly as possible, in order to deter would-be users from doing so.

He's just off the card, he's not facing any penalty for missing the test except for a missed pay check.

that's interesting....in that case he's lucky with the way the sport is governed.

Hey, Z, what is the perscription for?

What really sucks is Diaz is a headliner. He usually has a way of stealing the show. The guy is always in an entertaining fight. Really sucks for the card and Strikeforce as an organization.
