Lets just pray for no more post-ponements. If theres not, then Nov 27th is gonna be a HELLUVA night for boxing, cause its the same night as Marquez-Katsidis. My DVR will be in full swing.

i was really just copy-catting so many who respond to news like this, as if to say, "you got proof?"

still, it's not as if a source were mentioned and i just didn't want to type it. how am i supposed to know it's on fightnews. i'd call it ignorance on my part, not laziness.

    anyway, thanks for the info.

Interestingly, it appears that Green is not shut out of the tournament yet and may get a fight. I thought it had already been decided that the tournament would procede with these matchups being considered semi-finals and Green was out.

Even more interestingly, when you look at the matchups, it's not that hard to imagine Dirrell losing to Ward and Froch losing to Abraham. That would open up the door for Green to get into the Final Four by scoring a KO over an unnamed opponent or it would leave an unnamed opponent the opportunity to get into the Final Four by stopping Green.

Not sure how the tie-breaker would work if Green's fight ends in a decision, but you would hope the winner would be out.

I'm still somewhat undecided about Ward-Dirrell. At first I was thinking Ward, but the more I think about it the more I can see Dirrell winning.

I'm still quite confident that AA will bury Froch.

^^^^^Dirrell has speed and he can move which is something Ward may have some problems with. And Matrix can catch him with a quick counter to score a flash knockdown as well. Its an even fight I think.

To me AA and Froch is tough to call though. AA tends to give away alot of rounds and Froch did show some really good stuff against Kessler I think.

Thats gonna be a great night of boxing, though.

Ward/Dirrell is going to be boring as hell. They should've made Abraham/Froch the headliner.

From the way I read it, Green basically needs a knockout to warrant consideration. If his fight ends in decision, then they might as well call November 27 the semi-finals, and just have the winners fight in early '11 to be done with it already.

That makes the most sense. I figured they'd want Green out of the tourney considering his performance in the Ward fight.

I hope, not for the sake of Green, but for the sake of future tournaments, that Showtime doesn't set a precedence whereby fighters who've agreed to be in a tournament can be tossed out.

I agree that wouldn't be the right thing to do, though I feel it would be the best. But then who does Green fight now? What other elite SMW is there to fight in the tourney? And realistically what chance does he ( or Green) have to advance past the semis, if they do happen to score a KO? How fair would it be to the other four fighters who have been in the Super 6 since the beginning, if someone else is able to come in during Round 3 and advance to the semis after only 1 fight?

Well in a way they already have, by basically convincing Jermain Taylor to bow out. They couldn't toss him outright, but already expressed concern over his career, as well as DiBella announcing that he released Taylor from his promotional stable.

Taylor was basically shamed into (though I'm sure also compensated for) stepping down.

With Green, the promise was that if they had to go straight to a Final Four, that he'd be guaranteed a Showtime date early next year. Not a bad deal at all for a guy who did nothing to earn the right to fight in the tourney, to fight for a title, or warrant further television coverage with his non-performance against Ward.

Yeah. I guess it was premature of me to say it'd be wrong without knowing the details of the agreement that Green has with Showtime. And based on your description of the agreement, I agree that whatever happens, Green is getting more than he deserves. Especially in light of his performance against Ward.
