Btw Lennox and Shavers are 10. Tyson probably a 9 or 9.5.

He has an incredibly powerful right hand. I despise him, but it's just facts.

Would I put him above Lennox, Tyson, Foreman, aka the Holy Trinity of heavyweight punchers? No. Those guys destroyed quality fighters with proven chins. Wilder never did that.

Wilder's up there though. He's top 10 all time in the division in terms of sheer power.

 

Also, I would never claim that Wilder is a great puncher. Just a very big puncher. There's a difference.

Danny Lopez was a BIGGER puncher than Arguello. But Arguello was a better one.

 

I remember people used to rave about Samuel Peter based on his one and only highlight real ko over Jeremy Williams.... same shit here

Fucking glass chinned Szpilka ate a ton of shots before literally jumping into a right hand he didn't see... eric molina took forever to be put away... arreola wasn't hurt by wilder... Charlie zelenoff ate a flush hook from wilder and was ok.... fury's chin sucks yet wilder failed to put him away in THREE FIGHTS....

 

Just curious who do you guys think is the hardest puncher in the hw division that ever lived??? I mean if we consider their ko ratios, quality of opponents, highlight reels kos I mean the whole shabang.

Tua and Morrison? Sure. You can argue their hooks were bigger than Wilder's cross. Ruddock and Cooney too.

Spoon? I wouldn't say so. I would say that Spoon was much better than Wilder, and Spoon would fuck Wilder up, but as a pure puncher I think Wilder's right is more devastating.

Louis is the GREATEST puncher in heavyweight history, if not boxing history period.

But if we're talking sheer power, yes, that would the top 4 I think most people would have.

 

Top 10 in heavyweight history as far as sheer power goes is a good argument… But he’s on the lower tier. Foreman, Lewis, Tyson, Louis, Shavers, Morrison, Tua, and Ruddock all hit harder IMO.

 

I think it's likely Wilder hits about as hard as anybody; but he hasn't proven it and likely never will.

I'd probably put him between 4-7.

 

Look at the Szpilka fight. Szpilka is known for a glass chin. Wilder hit him with many flush right hands and nothing. That alone disqualifies him from any serious talk. The thing about Wilder is that when he gets excited he goes into windmill in a tornado mode...meaning FAST and his shots are coming from every angle shots in the back of the head shots where he's winding up from the lockeroom etc it's just a barrage of amateurish yet very fast onslaught of crap so people on the receiving end don't see it all coming and end up getting clipped with something they don't see. That's not pure punching power.

Even though I don't rate him highly, Wilder's a huge puncher. Boss seems to confuse ability to land (which he severely lacks) with power.
