He wrote this on Facebook... Surgery is cancelled tomorrow my lab results came back and MRI results and I have a bigger problem they see cancer cells and a mass in me and think I have pancreatic cancer. They have to run more test tomorrow. Things aren't looking good please continue to pray for my health my friends. God bless you all.
Omar Henry, from what I've heard of him, is a attention whore. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he overblown the situation to get coverage. If he really has pancreatic cancer, then it's really a shame considering his age and health
A couple of people I know who recently were diagnosed with pancreatic cancer were dead within a month or two. Another is still going after 8 months. It is one of the worst types of cancer to have. I think there might be one worse, as in 4% instead of 5% chance of surviving.
The worst one, so far as I know, is mesothelioma; the pleural cancer caused by asbestos. The survival rate is literally zero. Pancreatic cancer is less horrible, but only just. MTF
I worked with a lady, in her early 60s at the time, who went to have back surgery... she was supposed to be off for one month and then come back to work... She went in to have the surgery, they discovered she was riddled with cancer caused by Mesothelioma and within a few days of leaving work she was in Hospice care... a week later she was dead... absolutely crazy
Omar can be a nice kid and a damn good young prospect, but that is where it starts and stops, folks. I like the kid, but he is running a quart low upstairs, and that is a fact, folks.
R.I.P. May the blessed Virgin Mary guide his eternal soul out of Purgatory and can rest in Peace forever in the Heavenly realm.
Omar was a nice kid who I spent some quality time with discussing boxing and boxing philosophy, etc. But he burned his bridges here by his own bizarre behavior and by throwing his first manager under the bus, and also offended a lot more folks, including myself. Omar had pulled social media "attention getters" many times before, and most everyone that knew him well thought this was just yet another ploy to put himself into the spotlight. I covered his pro debut on the Hector Camacho card here years back, and another fight as well and we always had a good time together hanging out with "His family", Chris Henry. I am very disturbed at this, but it reminds me of when Andy Kaufman was sick with cancer and no one believed him, and it is the exact same thing with Omar as no one in Houston believed that, either. Sorry to hear that about my friend, here is one of the projects we collaborated on together, and I got a kick out of it when he made hundreds of copies of it and was passing them out to everyone that he could give one to saying that he had "Made the Big Time!" http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/blog/?p=5921#more-5921 Rest In Peace, Friend.
Only 25---poor kid. May he rest in peace. I think about being 25, and it's still so young. You're barely starting out as an adult on your own, or at least that's the way it seemed to me when I was 25.
It's funny to see you referring to him your friend repeatedly when you were calling him a liar and stupid in earlier posts in this thread. Even in your last post here now that he's known to be dead after a few months of battling cancer, you still feel some need to continue saying negative things about the guy. Don't you find it a bit ironic that you would continue to write negative things about him after he passed, and yet you have a woman beater and murderer as your signature picture?
You are far too dramatic for me, that is exactly what happened. What I wrote is the absolute truth, and he could be a nice kid. As far as posting a photo here goes, get a grip.
Your post was very good, Buddy is a good man, but he gets way too emotionnal sometimes. As for Henry, I myself thought it was a ploy to get attention ( after probably being told there was a risk of cancer and him jumping the gun ). Sad to see it wasn't after all, 25 y.o. and seemingly living a clean life, it just doesn't make any senses
Nah, it's pretty simple. You didn't know what you were talking about and came across as an asshole. You asked people to believe you in this very thread as you called him a liar. Aren't you supposed to be some kind of boxing writer? Maybe do a little research before you slander a dying man? Incredibly you continued to say negative things about someone who just died today after a struggle with cancer. What you should have done is admit you were wrong about Omar Henry. Maybe apologize?
