Elite fighters beat Katsidis much easier than that... but he's gutty. Doesn't have power at lightweight it seems.

Burns definitely isn't elite, but he's beaten two name fighters now. He has a promising future.

    Katsidis on the other hand.....

Kat is done. If he had won, I have a feeling that woulda fed him to Rios to be slaughtered. But he might as well retire now.

Good win for Burns. Several times he looked like he was done, but his stamina/ability to catch a second wind is superb and he boxed well enough to get the job done.

Katsidis has a lot to think about. I thought the scores should've been a lot closer but he doesn't even have a case to claim he was robbed. Third loss in four fights, and running out of meaningful opponents to try to beat.

Well, theres always a Mitchell rematch.

Or he can fight his fellow Aussie Lenny Zappa.

I didn't see it, but I hope whatever he does next, Katsidis has made some decent money out of his career. So much more a credit to Australian boxing than, "big names," Green or Mundine ever were, & you can take that to the bank.

Guy has given it his all in every fight, & every career move, he's ever been involved in. I actually thought he might well have won an immediate rematch with Casamayor back in 2008 (which would've etched his name into the record books as one of the linear LW champs. Would've been a nice touch, but life is cruel).

Hes a great boxer, i think he's had to work very hard to improve as fighter, maybe not elite fighter yet. But he does seem to improve with better opponent in front of him. i hope he gets a big world title fight, he defintely derserves it, marquez biggest name in that division, but be a very tall order for him to win that one.

Rios, and Guerrero would kill Burns.

    Vasquez would outbox him.

Not even sure Burns could beat Mitchell.

Yeah that'd be an interesting fight. Basiaclly a pick em.

Burns should stay far away from Rios and Guerrero.

Yeah he's getting rave reviews on here. Was it the Antillon fight you or somebody else reccomended to me that time? I'll check it out. By the way he's fighting crappy John Murray next, Xplosive, if he loses that that's all your credibility gone in one fight man , Murray is fucking shite

Another good Glasgow Irish man. Decent amount of natural ability....timing, accuracy, range, balance, quick trigger. I just honestly feel like he'd be about 15% better if he's sort his stance out - stop fighting so square, get his balance back to 50/50 at least....give himself a right hand & tuck his chin, in short. His style doesnt suit being so let hand dominant, especially not at 135

Its gonna take a minor MIRACLE for Murray to see the 5th round against Rios, nevermind win.

He whips a nice wide left hook to the belly, even if you see it coming it sort of follows you around, he really raked Katsidis with it all night. He's a big lightweight, and he would do faaaar better against Rios than Murray is going to do.

Shame for Kat. I've always been a big fan; the guy has a huge heart and loves to rumble. Too many beatings now, though, and I think he's probably done. Good win for Burns, mind.

I've been at the pub all night so missed the fight. Surprised by the result TBH: Kat should have been a level above Burns unless he's done. Sounds like he is.

I can see a turn-around yet. Celtic will win the league, finishing ahead of Glasgow Rangers 2011 PLC Underholdings Ltd.

yeah but people said exactly the same thing about martinez and katisdis, that they would kill burns. but i think Ricky is the type of boxer who get motivated by fighting better fighters. where someone one like mitchell might beat him, cause he would get too complacent, he needs fear to make him box better.

I'm nearly sure I was far more confident about his chances of beating Martinez.

The situation now is thus: if Marquez beats Pacquaio, Burns becomes the full WBO champ. If Marquez loses to Pacquaio, then Marquez vs Burns is most likely both mens next fight.
