This is a joke. Josesito is a natural 140 pounder who jumped at the chance to fight for the welterweight title against Ortiz. He has never fought at 154 lbs, plus who the heck he was before the Ortiz fight? why Canelo and Golden Boy don't make an offer to 'faded' Miguel Cotto? or any top ten legit 154 lbs division contender?

Big advantage for Canelo. This will probably end in a vicious KO.

    Much rather see Cotto/Canelo.

Someone here said that did offer Cotto a fight....but he didn't want it. At least not in September.

So Canelo is fighting the guy who jumped up a weight class to beat the guy who was going to jump up a weight class to fight HIM.

henry armstrong wouldve had a helluva career if he had haymon managing him from the get go.

as it is lopez will have trumped his career financially if he can beat this next muthafucka.

this fight is a joke, in fact, it's even worst than that, it's criminal, because Josesito Lopez health will be dammaged, hopefully not in the long term though. But he'll take a terrible beating as he is far too small, the guy is a 140 lbr for christ sake and not a big one at that, and he got too much heart for his own good. Cornelius Bundrage would have been a far, far better fight, and not a very dangerous one at that. Guess GBP wanted a sure shot

bundrage sucks, i dont think him vs alvarez would have been any good at all. i suspect lopez will last longer than bundrage would.

Lopez should hook up with that gentleman who helped Juan Manuel Marquez with his "diet and nutrition" in the last Pacquiao fight.

I don't know why anyone is bitching, most of you were all excited for Ortiz to fight Canelo. Now he's facing the guy who made Victor bitch up again and quit and it's not good enough?

Because it's the guy who jumped up to fight the guy who was going to jump up.

I don't think anybody rational was giving Ortiz much of a chance against Canelo either.

Yes, plus he's at much less of a size disadvantage. Ortiz and Canelo would be a similar size/strength in the ring, Ginger is a small 154 pounder. But Lopez is a lanky 140 pounder, there's no way he has the size/strength to compete at 154, even against a small one like Ginger.

It will be exciting while it lasts.

Canelo is a beautiful puncher and should put his shots inside of Lopezs' round house gonchos and stop him in a wild one.

Ortiz has always been a pussy and so had no chance vs. Canelo.

Josesito has more heart, but he is waaayyy to small to give it to Canelo. He will let his hands go, land plenty but nothing that will hurt, while Canelo will hurt him with everything he lands.

I don't think Bundrage is very good either, but at least he'd have a puncher chance and won't be outsized and outgunned as Lopez will be. Plus, it would give an old veteran on a streak his life time opportunity on top of a his biggest payday wich would probably serve as his retirement fund. Instead we're gonna see a young up and comer sacrifised to make Canelo look good

looks like Alvarez has his foe lined up. Maidana faces Soto Karass on the undercard so the winner of that sizzling matchup can get a shot at alvarez in dec/jan
