Fuck outta here! Oscar is NOT beating the Benitez that schooled Cervantes. He'd be bamboozled in there. Hoya's best chance is at 147, IMO. At 140 he gets outboxed, and at 154 he gets his ass kicked.
I disagree... Hoya was an exceptionally powerful Jr. Welter and big too... I think at 147 he loses to much speed to keep up... at 140, however, he's still got both the speed and the pop and Benitez would definitely have his hands full... and if it was the Bruce Curry benitez, he gets knocked into the 22nd century
what's the rationale for saying that Benitez definitely wins at 154 and at 140, but possibly not at 147? is it because he fought different fighters at those weights? :)
In all honesty, I was thinking the same thing. Hoya was a better Junior Welter than a welter, anyway.
Most of his biggest fights were at 147, & his actual stay at 140 was very brief, but I'm inclined to agree with you --- he was never more formidable, IMO, than at Jr. Welter. Such a blend of speed & power.
