Pacquiao vs. Mosley May Very Well Happen, Says Arum

    By Mark Vester

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum says a unification fight between welterweight champions Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley is almost sure to happen if both men win their upcoming fights. Pacquiao defends the WBO title this Saturday against Joshua Clottey and Mosley defends against Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 1. During a recent interview with our friends at boxingnewsonline.net, Arum said he likes Mosley because of his non-trash talking personality. The remark is clear on who he would rather not do business with. Arum later says he would rather not deal with Mayweather, a fighter who loves to talk pre-fight trash.

“[Pacquiao-Mosley], that may very well happen,†said Arum. “Mosley’s a good guy and he’s always been a good guy and a Mosley fight would be attractive because I am at a stage with my career where I don’t tolerate any of this trash talking, any of this nonsense. I like to do fights with guys who are respectful of each other - like Ricky Hatton and Manny, like Miguel Cotto, like Joshua Clottey and Mosley’s the same way."

"Shane’s a very high class fellow and he’s a high class athlete and to do a fight with Mosley would be fine. To do a fight with Mayweather is not fine. We don’t need trash talk in boxing."

Arum is no fan of Mayweather, or his the rest of the clan, Floyd Mayweather Sr. and Roger Mayweather. He would rather not deal with anything that has to do with them.

"Boxing is on a new high, coming into a stadium like this, going to New Yankee stadium in New York [June 5 Yuri Foreman-Miguel Cotto], it’s going to be in all of the big buildings now. We don’t need anyone in the sport who embarrasses it,†Arum said.

Boxing aint golf or tennis..shiiiiit. This aint no gentleman's game. This is about beating people up. A little trash talking spices things up.

Anyway...we're not seeing Pacquiao vs Mosley unless Pacquiao loses to Clottey on Saturday....

Arum said Mosley vs. Pac would happen IF both win their next fights...neither Pac or Arum feel like bending over for Mayweather's demands. But if Pac/May win their fights..then there isn't many options for either guy other than to fight each other. Unless Margarito become a factor again in the next few months. We can assume Mayweather will still not fight him though...

Arum is more scared of PBF than Pacquiao is and that's saying something.

Isn't a clean fighter entitled to a clean opponent Vida?.. What if Margarito bailed behind the 'how dare you, fight off!' excuse if Cotto demanded a stricter handwraps screening procedure? ... Margarito shouldn't have to cave in to Cotto's demands!.. Any sympathy Illuminati?.. guess you think you can be too careful...[IMG] as a result you paid for it with a heartbreaking TKO loss,.. learn my boy, learn.

the real question is, what happens if PBF wins. it sounds like Arum doesn't plan to make that fight, whatever happens.

As I said at the time, I had a suspicion that Arum was a very destructive influence on those negotiations the first time. Fairly clear he's against the fight happening and probably has been since day one.

Because he's got faith in his natural abilities to defeat other opponents, thus the reason he's implimented advanced random drug testing as a mutual clause in negotiating fights, they have the right to know he's clean, and he has the right to know they're clean.

This is a healthy precedent for boxing, something a drug addled cheat with a mania of fans, shouldn't be able to tear away.

I think it's more likely he's in the know about what's up with Pacquiao,.. I believe he was thoroughly interested in making as much money as he possibly could,..for there have been times in the past where he was happy, the coach was happy, but Pacquiao wasn't... Arum and Roach, missing out on a lucrative little earner, would 'urge' Manny publically to accept the clause (for example the split for the Hatton fight).

Not for the insey wincey blood sampling however,..:crafty: it caused a great deal of panick, and a string of subsequent exposed lies did follow.

Was anything found in Margarito hand wraps in prior fight before the COTTO fight? NO...has Pacquiao ever tested positive for anything? Has he even been suspected of anything? NO...all this talk of PED started when Floyd SR and JR stun/surprised/astonish/ at what a great fighter, with great talent can accomplish when he is not a bitch....

Ah, that golden desperate argument,.. in order for that to be relevant you'd have to compare the competancy of the NSAC piss test set dates screening in comparison to advanced random urine and blood tests conducted by the USADA,.. and that's an instant ownage if you were to try my son.

It also appears you,.. have vouched for Margarito's innocence in his fight against Cotto,.. very noble and contradictory of you my lamb's ear,.. but didn't the fact that the handwrap was pre blood-stained sort of raise suspicions with you that it had been used before?..atleast in his previous fight, against your hero?,.. and thus subsequently it owns your case for Margarito being innocent because he snuck through a sloppy inspection process?, (admitted by the Cotto camp). Well that's precisely what I mean Illuminati,.. strong, stringent, scanning,... of the wraps,..and of the blood stream,.. that's the only way to hault corruption in thier many forms. Learn your lesson.

It's bad to promote a fight with a guy who trash talks (coming from someone who really started making his name by promoting Ali fights), but it's okay if the guy tries to load his gloves.

I would have thought that if Pac beats Clottey & Mosley beats PBF, it would pretty much be a foregone conclusion that they would fight each other.

It's incredibly hypothetical because PBF will beat Mosley, & Neither PBF or Pac will back down on the drug issue.
Even if by some miracle one of them did, PBF will ask for the lions share of the purse & then that will facillitate the fight not happening.
