I was watching Whitaker vs McGirt last night and from obviously seeing that McGirt was no Pac. despite McGirt's boxing talent, a Whitaker vs Pac fight would be completely different. Pac would do what Pac does best, throwing combination punches from angles, not staying in one position and not trading shots straight in front of his opponent, so how would Pea deal with this style? Whitaker was a very accomplished boxer, with great speed, footwork and reflexes, so a Pea vs Pac fight would have been highly competitive, but very hard to call at WW. Thoughts please Gentlemen.
From also watching Pea's destruction of Chavez, even if it was an out of sorts Chavez, was still highly impressive, so based on that performance, would Pea beat Pac, say if a Pac that crushed De la Hoya shows up?
Whitaker wins a very very very very very close UD. At least in my eyes, the judges might go for Pacquiao.
Both these guys are so totally unique I basically can't envision this at all. At 135 or 140 Whitaker would be a confident pick......I suppose I'd plump for him here too.
Give me the guy who arguably beat a prime Delahoya @ welterweight. Pacman would give Whitaker fits but I just think Sweet Pea's jab, bodypunching, defenses and reflexes give him enough of an edge to squeak out a close but clear decision.
That's the thing. at welterweight Pac hasn't faced a guy who had all these attributes in abundance, this is why also we want to see him tackle Floyd. It was tough to see, but De La Hoya, not in his prime for the Pac fight was basically a walking punch bag.
I'd pick Pea now, but wonder how many people would change their minds if Pac beats Floyd and beats him well.
