BROOKLYN (August 6, 2007) – IBF light welterweight champion Paulie “The Magic Man” Malignaggi (24-1, 5 KOs), still savoring his masterful title-winning performance against Lovemore N’dou, is home in Brooklyn fuming about Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. (33-0, 26 KOs) and his team openly challenging him. http://www.fightbeat.com/news_details.php?NW=2209
“All Chavez has is his last name,†Malignaggi spewed. “He’s gotten more press for beating nobodies than anybody in boxing history. All he’s ever fought are cab drivers and busboys. He’s nobody! I was a better prospect before my first pro fight than he is after 33 pro fights. I will embarrass him, his father, his entire family, and ruin his blood line. :: :bears: Go Paulie!
But what will Paulie gain by beating a nobody in Chavez jr.? by his own words chavez has beaten nobody. last I heard they were trying to make Malinaggi/Casamayor. I like Paulie but it doesn't look like he has a meaningful fight coming anytime soon.::
All Chavez has is his last name,” Malignaggi spewed. “He’s gotten more press for beating nobodies than anybody in boxing history. All he’s ever fought are cab drivers and busboys." I've been saying this for ages. As soon as Jr steps in there with a real fighter, he's going to get exposed badly. He's nothing, not even a blip on the radar. I hope he gets obliterated and just f*cks off of our tv sets. Don't know why he's getting so many opportunities on ppv undercards. He's junk along with his crappy-ass competition. [/font]
Paulie will get satisfaction knowing he exposed the son of a legend. And I'll get satisfaction knowing that fraud Jr will no longer be on anymore ppv undercards fighting handpicked club trash! Make the fight happen!!!!
Isn't that the same line Greg Huagen used about Chavez Sr. just before JC beat the snot out of him in front of 12 billion Mexicans in Mexico City?
He said (about Chavez's impressive record) "He's had 20 decent fights and the other 60 were Tijuana cab drivers." After stoppiing Haugen Chavez said some of those cab drivers were tougher than him (Haugen). ::
He called out Hatton first. But that isn't happening:: Chavez Jr is probably a much better payday than N'Dou with not even a 1/10th of the risk
chavez jr's level of comp has indeed become ridiculous. but what's worse is that he keeps fighting guys half his size. anyone who watched saturday's fight, and the one before that can attest. he's been fighting guys who are at least 2 weight divisions smaller than him. it's a disgrace. it's one thing to pad your record - especially when you have had no amateur record. but to fight guys half your size? it's criminal !!! chavez and his promoter should be ashamed of themselves.
This could be a very bad matchup stylewise for young Chavez Jr. I like Chavezs' style, but he has whacked out some real stiffs, I agree. Paulie is a tough and hardened professional prizefighter now, and a fighter most always improves up to about 25 percent after he wins a championship.
