De La Hoya De La Hoya Williams In fairness to Williams, his career isn't over, & there's more to come. However, the man is just so damn wide open, so often, it's not difficult for me to imagine an excellent fighter with such qualities as a good punch, fast hands, & quick combinations & counters making him pay & piling up points. Doubly so, if that fighter exhibits the ability to box with his feet. De La Hoya was just a better fighter, to my mind. He'd probably come unstuck at Middleweight, but the 2001-03 version at Jr. Middle, the one who beat Vargas & Mosley, could get it done. De La Hoya was younger, swifter & sharper across the board at Welter --- arguably his best division --- & I see a lot for him to exploit in this bout.
