According to George Kimball, Bob Arum wants to put a card with Kelly Pavlik-Marco Antonio Rubio and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in Mexico City on September 23, which is a Tuesday.

It would be televised on pay per view.

3 Days after Mayweather-De la Hoya 2. If this happens it is a stupid idea from Arum.

Pavlik deserves an "easy" fight after going through Miranda and Taylor (twice), but no more than that. :nono:

that is my point. Lockett is the "easy" fight, he shouldn't fight Rubio after.

No champion 'deserves' an easy fight. Thats what the belt should mean.

    A Tuesday? The 23rd?

    Why?

I can't remember the last time a reasonably-big PPV was in the middle of the week.

They want to do it along with the Mexican Holiday, but I thought it was the 16th.

And a lot of people will have already spent PPV money on the 20th for the bullshit PBF-DLH rematch.

In my country, every Aussie PPV is midweek, basically. Mundine fights exclusively on wednesday nights and every single one has been a PPV.

Incidently, the highest grossing PPV in history (per capita) was Mundine v Green and that was midweek.
