The spider will win this IF he moves around,.. if he doesn't, Pavlik's extended right hand can devistate any middleweight, and he will hurt Paul if he lands it often enough,.. can the Spider hurt Pavlik?.. if he can,.. maybe it'll be easier done than said.

We are going to find out how good a chin Williams has. I got Pavlik via stoppage late. Williams is very hittable.

    This is from Steve Kim:
Folks, I believe we'll have a fight on October 3rd.

Either way, glad fight got done. The fall/winter has a strong lineup on both major networks, IMO

    Is this guy reliable?

I think the outcome of this fight hinges entirely on how Pavlik handles Williams when he holds him inside.

Williams is a good fighter inside, but as we saw against Margarito, he does switch his style and box more against hard-punching and strong opposition. This is what I expect he will try to do against Pavlik. And so if Pavlik (and the referee) allow Williams to hold on the inside and the fight is fought strictly on the outside, I expect Pavlik to lose most of the rounds and be able to win only if he can land to the body throughout the fight and then catch a tiring Williams towards the end of the fight like he did against Taylor (and like Margarito managed to come on strong against Williams in the second half of the fight).

If Williams obliges Pavlik on the inside, I think Pavlik will knock him out, probably in the middle rounds.

Williams's big advantage in this fight, is his speed...he'll mix it up for sure, as he should, but he doesn't want to spend too long inside. Pavlik is by far the strongest fighter Williams has ever fought.

Interested to see how Williams' power carries up....if he can get Pavlik's respect with his own power, then his chances improve by a great deal...Pavlik is gonna get hit a lot in this fight, and if he is to overpower Tall Paul, then he can't get hurt as he imposes himself.

Another key is angles.....Williams is always moving, offering himself angles to attack from.....Hopkins used his angles very effectively when schooling Pavlik

Williams is always there to be hit, He fights nothing like the Hopkins that schooled Pavlik. Margarito who is as slow or slower than Pavlik was able to hit Paul with some big shots. Can Williams take a shot like that from Pavlik?

Yeah, I don't think too much needs to be made of Williams' angles. They, like a real, purposeful jab, or head movement, tend to be more for show it seems. On the occasion or two during a round when he remembers to do it, he'll mix it in there.

Williams is a volume puncher, he leaves openings and will be there to be hit. But he's gonna throw and land a lot regardless, and the one thing Margarito was willing to do was wade through a lot of that.

Pavlik has to as well, although Williams in 2009, at 160, will be stronger and more filled out than the welterweight version Margarito fought.

Thing is, Pavlik likes to be set when he punches so he may not be as good at catching Williams on the move as Margarito was (Margarito can throw combinations without being set).

Margarito was able to be reasonably effective against Williams because he was able to hit him even as he followed him around. I don't think Pavlik will be able to do that. So he must rely on cutting the ring off properly and muscling Williams to the ropes. If he can't do that, Williams will probably win a decision.

Pavlik doesn't punch coming forward the way Margarito does, and certainly doesn't bring the same kind of short punches up the middle, but then Williams isn't as light, and I don't think as shifty, at the higher weight.

I think the good thing for Pavlik here is that he was taught a lesson by Benard Hopkins!!! What he learned in that fight I expect him to apply it against Williams and win the fight by convincing KO

It will also help that he presumably won't be sick or have an arm injury too.

I hope this fight occurs. LOL, AT THE PEOPLE who say Williams will outbox Pavlik. Williams is not a boxer at all. He is as much a boxer as Arturo Gatti was. This fight is going to be a brawl both guys have similar styles, except Williams throws 35-40 punches more a round, and Pavlik hits twice as hard. Williams has the better chin and stamina, but I wonder how his chin will hold up when he gets cracked with Pavlik's punches. I am leaning toward Williams at this point, but I wouldn't be shocked if Pavlik iced him.

I think this will be a great match up. It think Pavlik is bigger and stronger and will get the better of Williams and maybe knock him out. If Williams learns how to use his legs and box then I think he could win.

I hope Pavlik wins, but I'd lean Williams, too.

What do you mean, "let it go?" What does, "letting it go," mean, when it comes to this?

It means let it GO....Pavlik got beat by HOPKINS...NOT because of a shoulder injury...not because he was sick...but because Hopkins is/was 10x better than him...

Pavlik looked like his usual self vs. Hopkins.....he just never face anyone like that before..who would stay in his chest for most of the fight...he did not give him space to throw those long punches of his...

Well, that's just stupid. First of all, I never made the claim that Pavlik would not lose to Hopkins in any case. Hopkins' cheating ways make it very difficult for a fighter who follows the rules to beat him.

But I cannot agree with you that Pavlik looked like his usual self that night. If you honestly think he did, I can't change your mind. But I'd challenge you to watch the fight again and see the lack of interest and desire in Pavlik's face. He was obviously not himself. Not in my opinion.

Comparing Williams and GAtti's boxing skills is fucking retarded. But I agree Williams is not a superb boxer.

but to outbox Pavlik he just needs to be a better boxing than Pavlik which he is. He is faster and throws a shitload of punches.

Aside from a puncher's chance Pavlik gets outboxed.

No what is retarded is saying Williams outboxes anyone. I doubt you have ever seen Williams fight. Unless it is a third world midget, you have no interest. Williams' defense might be worse than Gatti's. His chin and stamina are just better. Williams has the worst defense of any championship level fighter today. Don't be angry at me you don't know how to use the right words. The word you were looking for is outwork, not outbox.
