I don't know what happens, but wanted to mention that Mosley never beaten a fighter of Paz or Corrales level at lightweight.
Are you using the famous "coulda, woulda, shoulda" argument? To give you an example, if Finns had balls, they WOULD actually count for something on international arena. Alas, they don't, and no one gives a shit about them. If Mosley WOULD beat Corrales, that would be his best win at 135. Alas, he never DID beat Corrales, and the fact that Mosley didn't fight anyone remotely decent at 135 remains, despite your best "WOULDA" attempts.
Who has Paz or Corrales beaten of any note at lw. Has either run off 8 consecutive stoppage wins against decent opposition? Floyd didn't want none (no matter how much he lies about it). Nazarov and Stevie weren't known enough to create a unification bout. So who should Shane have fought to satisfy you? Maybe you should try discussing style matchups not career ones. I think giving Mosley's pinchent for speed and movement he easily dispatches the talentless Pazienza. Paz = mad heart and guts. Mosley counters with mad heart, guts & talent. Corrales never met a straight punch he didn't like to taste and speed and movement have always bother him. Though Mosley would have likely given Chico one of those wars he loves I think Mosley would have caught many of Chico's hooks with his patented ear muff block and even the ones that got through he likely would have been able to take. To much speed and straight punches for Chico who loved to fight stupid.
Well, you might have heard of this fighter, Jose Luis Castillo? Corrales KTFOed him, in one of the greatest lightweight fights of all time (needless to say, Mosley never fought, yet alone defeated a fighter of Castillo's caliber at 135). As to your statement that Mosley didn't fight Stevie or Orzubek because they were unknowns.....So, he preferred fighting even lesser fighters than these two unknowns? The fact remains that Mosley never beat anyone at 135 on the level of Orzubek, Stevie, JC Castillo or Corrales. You can follow the Yugo's line of thinking and claim:"but he WOULDA beat them!". Maybe he would and maybe he wouldn't. The fact remains that he never did. You're dismissed, just like Yugo was two posts ago.
Corrales also got KTFO by Castillo as well. Your post is filled with hate. What's more important, Corrales having a KO win over Castillo followed by a KO defeat of him 1 fight later, or Mosley having 8 straight title defenses all by impressive KO's? His opposition may not have been great but names like Molina, John Brown, Leija, and Ceballos were all very solid competition and not the push-over-stiffs that Mosley's lw competition has lately mythified. Also I never said, Mosley didn't want to fight Johnson or Nazarov, he was actively trying to get Johnson in the ring, but either the networks or the promoters weren't having it. I'm not going to use the Yugo line of "he woulda beat them anyway" but I will say this. If Nazarov and Johnson were doing so great at lw themselves how come neither guy made a name for himself the way Mosley did? The answer is because neither guy was tearing through that same level of competition the way Mosley was. Johnson was impressively decisioning guys but he wasn't destroying them the way Mosley was. Mosley's comp may not have been great but that didn't stop him from showing his greatness by displaying the huge disparity that he beat them buy. Who's dismissed again?
Whats with all this debate regarding Mosley & Corrales? I loved Chico, but the 135 Shane woulda completely and utterly fucked him up!
