Close semi-controversial decisions at any of the weights. Both men elusive..the deciding factors would be Floyd's power and precision vs Pea's southpaw mischief. Judges would have to decide..and I think they'll go with Floyd in each case.
Whitaker at any weight on the grounds of him being considerably better. Floyd would probably be even money against the past prime welterweight version that Oscar fought, though.
Hows anyone considerably better than anyone? Whitaker was a genius, possibly the most gifted pure boxer in the history of the sport. In comparison, Floyd looks like a negative guy with a tricky defense and allot of natural talent. If Floyd's an A+ student Whitaker's the guy the professor's talk about on their lunch break 20 years after he graduates.
Mayweather's just as elusive as Whitaker, just as smart, moves just as well. Whitaker had his tricks and Floyd has his tricks. IF Whitaker had an edge in defense over Floyd it's marginal (people HATE on Floyd because he's so "slippery")..but Floyd has a significant edge on Whitaker in offensive arsenal. So how can anyone say Whitaker is "considerably better"? I couldn't disagree more.

Whitaker at any weight.... Yeah yeah Mayweather is accurate/sharpshooter whatever you wanna call it but throwing 30 punches around vs. Whitaker would be a mistake. Whitaker is the Master of defense...He has a Doctorate in it... while Mayweather is just a Bachelor's... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVPXllSAJ6g
That's right. PBF is not active enough. Usually it doesn't matter cause he's so damn accurate, but potshotting aint getting it done against Whitaker, he'll avoid most of them, plus Pernell is a SP, which I reckon PBF is not as effective against.
The reason I pick Whitaker here is because he is the more awkward, unusual fighter --- they both have to deal with a superb defensive opponent & thinker in there, but one has some fo the more bizarre tricks in his bag ever seen in a ring. I think Mayweather has more adjustments to make here than Whitaker does, & when coupled with his greater activity, Whitaker edges Mayweather quite close, at any weight.
I can respect this post. I think May wins...but you've made a good case. Whitaker did have some unusual "southpaw mischief" that could throw anyone off.
