Lomachenko has had 6 fights and he's not a featherweight anyway by same-day standards... why not match Lomachenko with a lightweight contemporary of Pep like Ike Williams, Bob Montgomery, etc? C'mon, Slice, do I have to think of everything here?
P4P matches don't exist The guy is excellent but he's had 6 pro fights... I'm not ready to say he's a good match for an all-time level fighter
Pep wins 15-0, and only has to throw 15 punches to do so. Truly Yours, from the grave, -Randolph Bert Sugar.
I'm with cdogg. 6 fights just doesn't tell you enough even if most of the opponents in those six fights were good opponents. You need a body of work and consistency to really get a sense of a fighter.
Normally you can gauge a fighter after around 6 fights at world level. If those fights just so happen to be his first 6, does it really matter?
Well how many fights must he have then before we can accurately assess his chances against a guy like Pep?
Based on Loma having 6 pro fights...and losing a decision to the toughest of his opponents.....*Salido is a limited BEAST..he fuck dudes up..respect for Loma for keeping it close some think he won...it was a close fight...
The thing in favor of Loma in that matchup, is that Pep is doesnt really fights like a pro. He's a classical boxer so this gives Loma a good chance, since he's an incredible technician. Against a guy like Saddler, who will use every dirty tactis in the book, I wouldn't give Loma a chance. But Pep is classical enough that I could see Loma beating him (or at least be competitive with him)
Willie Pep was a fucking genius fighter and it is worth repeating that the guy fought Sandy Saddler only after being terribly injured in a plane crash to the point where physicians told him he'd never be able to box again... He was 135-1-1 before he fought Saddler with the two blemishes both coming against lightweights.... he'd beaten every single notable featherweight on Earth during that time... the film doesn't lie, the guy was special
