Both held versions of the Welterweight title at the same time but they never fought. Both went on to "lose" to Oscar De La Hoya.

Ike's thunderous jab and aggression vs Whitaker's slick elusive southpaw mischief?

Who would have won this intriguing matchup?

This fight was actually contracted. I think the year was 1995, but I assume you mean the Whitaker of around 1992-93 & the Quartey of 1996-97. I had Whitaker losing to De La Hoya by a point, & Quartey drawing with him. I think people go well overboard calling those outright robberies. I didn't see them that way at all --- much too tight for that, though favouritism in the close ones will usually smile upon the chosen fighter.

If they fought in 96-97 Ike would prob win a close decision.

But the circa 93 Whitaker that was still in his prime, would have outpointed Ike.

    Agreed.

The Whitaker of 93-94 probably wins but the Whitaker of 98' loses decisively.

    Trinidad-Quartey in 98' would've been a really intriguing fight.
