This wasn’t the way it was supposed to happen. This was supposed to be Kimbo Slice’s, and EliteXC’s shining moment. But the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. And boy, did they go awry on Saturday night. First, Ken Shamrock, the designated sacrificial lamb, cut himself shortly before the card started. After being examined by doctors, he wasn’t allowed to fight. The televised card hadn’t even begun, and the biggest fight in EliteXC’s short history was already off. Things were bad. They were soon to get worse. Much worse. Light heavyweight Seth Petruzelli, who was scheduled to fight in an undercard fight, was selected to take Shamrock’s place. Petruzelli is a somewhat familiar name to hardcore MMA fans for his run on The Ultimate Fighter, where he failed to make a splash. http://fightbeat.com/article_detail.php?AT=672
